My entire body became impossibly still as the blood drained from my flesh; I swallowed dryly to witness the scene again as five years ago. The same goons Melody hired to kill me that day marched towards me, pointing their guns at us.

Zoe recoiled in horror in my arms, his squirming activated my fight or flight mode. So, I hid behind Henry, using him as a shield.

Melody broke into a fit of laughter, she remarked at my situation.

"Well, Laura. You are quite selfish. I haven't told you about the punishment, and you are already endangering your brother's life?

Smart move!"

Leo didn't pay any heed to Melody's blabbering and asked her fearlessly.

Don't even think about informing the police. Otherwise, I will send back Zoe into pieces as your new year's gift."
