Zoe's query hung an invisible tension in the air, silencing all of us. He brought up Bright so suddenly that I couldn't even react.

The scenes of our recent rancorous arguments flashed across my mind as I heard his name, reliving that moment when he was impossible to be convinced. My bleak smile failed to hide my gloominess as I replied to my prince.

"Yeah!

I will call him."

As I had no proper reason to turn down my son's request, calling Bright was the last thing to do so. However, Henry interrupted us hurriedly.

"Let me call Bright. I have to discuss an important business matter with him."

He dialed Bright's number, stumbling my heart over its rhythm. I wasn't sure how to react if Bright would arrange an outing for us.

Unlike most adults, I sucked at concealing my inner emotions by putting up a happy face for others. My facial expressions were like an open book, easy to read for everyone. I could stay silent throughout the picnic or whatever they planned, but the subtitles of my sentiments would make everyone feel awkward. No one would be able to enjoy it because of me.

However, my all dreads turned into a fresh breeze of relaxation as Bright refused to join us for the picnic,

"Congratulations, dear kids!

I would love to go for a play date with you all, but …"

Henry put this call on speaker for us as Bright explained the reason for breaking his promise, apologizing sincerely.

"I had asked my assistant to clear my schedule for today. But unfortunately, an urgent meeting with my clients has occupied my evening.

I am so sorry, kids. Please go with your mommy and uncle this time.

We will go out some other day."

Jane and Zoe didn't accept his apology and demanded a party for celebration, he was only spared by his pinky promise of a picnic this weekend.

After this call, we resumed over discussion on our way back home, contemplating different options. But nothing seemed to be fit for such an extraordinary occasion.

Eventually, Henry raised his voice, proposing a solution.

"Let's go to Disneyland.

The rides and attractions are mind-blowing there."

My both kids jumped on the car seats, clapping gleefully.

"You are the best, uncle. I would love to meet Elsa."

Just like Jane, Zoe didn't hesitate to voice his wish.

"I would like to click a pic with Nick and Judy from Zootopia. They sell cherry flavored pawpsicles too."

He looked for the meeting hours through the app and ordered us all to hurry.

"Please be quick. We can't be late for the meeting."

Zoe got ready at a record speed and urged us to move faster as we reached home, knocking Jane's and mine door repeatedly. Henry had to bribe him with cookies to buy some time for me to change.

I barely got a chance to wear comfy shoes for long walks and set off for a joyous afternoon, my kids were super excited to plan for the rides.

"Firstly, Grizzly River run, Ferris wheel, then jumping jellyfish …"

Listening to the names of so many attractions, I could only think about their safety. The age-appropriate rides of my kids were our safest bets.

Although Zoe and Jane had achieved so much at a young age, they were kids. This question became my first query after greetings when we arrived at the amusement park.

"Hello, Sir.

Is this ride kids' friendly?"

We went to Autopia first, the close to reality enclosed car racing track thrilled my adventurous babies. Then we walked all the way to respective spots and met Elsa and Captain Hopps, fulfilling my children's wishes.

My stomach was rumbling with hunger after clicking dozens of pictures, I sat on a bench to catch my breath,

"I am starving.

Is anyone hungry?"

Henry handed me a water bottle and laughed.

I feigned anger to discipline them,

"Behave yourself, Jane. You must respect your elder brother. Why did you wipe your dirty hands with Zoe's shirt?"

We were waiting in the line for the Ferris wheel, and still, I was reprimanding them for their stunt. Jane pouted and spoke cutely.

"Mommy, brother pulled my ponytail first. He started it."

"Zoe!"

I glared at Zoe, who stared back at me with puppy dog eyes, melting my heart. I found it hard to scold him as Henry interceded.

"Don't be angry, Laura. They are kids. Let them be."

Our squabble even caught the eye of the ride's host, he welcomed us with a smile.

"Concerned mom, cool dad! You two are a perfect couple."

The ride attendant’s cheerful voice made me stiffen.

What?

I turned.

He was smiling at Henry and me, clearly misunderstanding everything.

Couple?

Henry?!

Henry grinned wickedly.

Then, he winked.

"Ah, what can I say? She’s the best wife ever."
