"Ladies and gentlemen!
Thanks for joining this live stream today. Mr. Leo is perfectly alright.
Good night!"
And turned around to yell at Leo, "You never had any actual intention of committing suicide, Mr. Leo. You are simply a fraud!"
My yelling froze Leo to his spot, he couldn’t move an inch when I stalked towards him dangerously.
"I am tired of your lies and tricks, Mr. Leo. Why can’t you just mind your own business?"
Bright sensed the tension rising in the air due to the grapple, he did the best thing one could ever do in such circumstances. He unlocked the office door, and let the police in.
"Thank God, you are fine, Mr. Leo."
Officer Nolan, to whom I had talked on my cell phone, barged into the room, his fully armed squad amused me. They were all prepared for some sort of critical task. Little did they know that a crack-headed man was wasting their time for his lost glory.
Bright briefly explained the situation to the officers, startling them.
Officer Nolan’s voice was gruff with restraint as he warned Leo.
"Sir, your publicity stunt has wasted our time and resources, spreading fake news all over the internet.
It seems that you are oblivious of the fact that wasting public resources is a felony. It can lead to charges in the court."
Although the officer strived his best to elaborate on the severity of the outcome, Leo appeared nonchalant, as if he weren’t a part of this commotion. Rolling my eyes at him, I followed that officer to leave.
"Let’s go back, Bright. It’s getting late."
Bright nodded and was about to walk out with me when Leo had a second attack of insanity. He pushed him away and charged at me.
"Mr. Leo!"
A series of startled gasps resonated in the room as both Bright and officer Nolan thought that Leo was going to attack me. His ablaze eyes threw fiery daggers at Bright as he snarled at him.
"Back off, Bright!"
The shining black gun in his hand hitched my heart to my throat, freezing the air in my lungs. My head was on the verge of exploding when Leo pressed that gun in my hands and cried out.
"Why can’t you believe me that I love you, Laura?"
That was the same gun that I saw in his suicidal live stream, Leo had shrewdly stuffed it in his pant’s pocket for this moment. Sobbing piteously, he shed tears like a heartbroken lover, his pale face and swollen eyes advocated for his desolation.
"I admit that I am wrong. You had to face a lot of hardship because of me.
But I am equally suffering as you, Laura. There wasn’t a night when I could sleep peacefully after losing you."
Wailing like a widow, Leo narrated his heart-rending story of so-called love for me, he was regretting his mistakes.
Without a shred of mercy, I tossed the gun aside.
"We are done!
The marriage or any other official ties between us are a part of the past now. I don’t want anything to do with you, Mr. Leo.
Neither in this life nor the next. You are dead to me!"
"Laura, please …"
Leo’s knees buckled, refusing to bear his weight anymore, he landed on the floor like a fallen tree. He desperately begged me to stay.
"Please give me a chance to repent, Laura. I swear, I will be an ideal husband.
I will treat you well. Please don’t leave me!"
Ugh!
He should be in an asylum, not in prison!
As the police officers heard the shouting, they returned to the premises. I hardly composed myself and requested.
"Please keep Mr. Leo away from me. I will file a petition in the court for restraining orders as the first thing to do in the morning tomorrow."
