Graduating with full marks in the fimal assessment is no easy feat. In fact, it’s tougher than being the top student in the state 

Sure, Flora’s shooting skills are pretty solid, but it’s unrealistic to expect her to nail every single task perfectly, right? If she scores below ninety, she’ll fail the military training. That means she’d have to retake it with the freshmen and sophomores next year until she passes and earns the necessary credits. 

“Flora, maybe you should just attend the training,” Cynthia said, worry etched on her face as she tugged at Flora’s arm after a long day. I’m really concerned. What if you can’t earn the credits?” 

“I’ll make it,” Flora shrugged, her confidence shining through. This was why she felt bold enough to skip training. 

“Ms. Flora!” 

It was only after Cynthia walked away that Lance and Colton approached Flora, keeping their voices low so no one else could hear. 

Flora smiled, “Haven’t seen you guys in half a month. How’s the progress?” 

“With the supplements you gave us, it’s hard not to improve,” Lance admitted with a goofy smile, rubbing his buzz cut. “But I doubt I’ve improved as fast as Baker.” 

Jillian silently watched Flora interact with them. She couldn’t hear their conversation, but it was clear Flora had a good rapport with them. 

Could Flora know people from Empire Base? But then again, Jillian doubted it. She had looked into Flora’s background: born into an ordinary family in Cedarvale, not particularly distinguished but well–off. Such a family background hardly seemed connected to Empire Base people. 

“Jillian, what are you spacing out for? Aren’t you coming to lunch?” a classmate who was close to Jillian called out to her. “I tell you, that Flora from your class is really bold. So many days have passed, and she hasn’t attended training once. The instructor didn’t even scold her. You have no idea how terrifying our instructor is.” 

Her instructor was Colton, a formidable figure who showed no mercy, not even to the girls. 

“Yeah, I noticed that too. Flora seems quite familiar with the instructors. I even saw her coming out from the instructor’s quarters one night. She was in there for an hour; who knows what was happening.” 

“What?!” The girl’s eyes widened, instantly thinking the worst. “You don’t mean to svetl training, Flora is… with the instructors?”

“You again, young lady?” The doctor was surprised to see Jillian, who had visited the medical office multiple times in less than ten days of training. “Training is important, young lady, but you must also take care of your health.” 

The doctor liked Jillian; among the delicate ladies who attended the training, always thinking of ways to skip, Jillian was sincere, even adding extra sessions to her routine.
