Yvette tugged on the doctor's sleeve and could not even speak properly. "You mean...he’s saved? He’s okay, right? Thank you! Thank you so much!"
By the end of it, Yvette suddenly hugged the doctor. The doctor was nearly fifty years old and was suddenly hugged by a girl younger than his daughter. After a while, Yvette said, “Thank you so much!”
"You’re welcome..." The doctor did not know where to put his hands. In the end, Yvette let go of him and sniffled as she said, "Thank you, really."
After saying that, she took a step back and bowed to the doctor.
From behind, the nurse pushed Shaun out on the hospital bed. Yvette could not care less about the doctor and hurriedly followed them to the ICU. Yvette’s gaze was fixated on the unconscious man with a beaten-up face that was wearing an oxygen mask.
Yvette was sobbing and choking as she gradually lost focus of the doors at the end of the corridor. She thought, ‘Why did I fall in love with this man?’
Shaun was not the most handsome, nor the tallest, nor the kindest of all the men she knew.
He was even so mean that he once told her to get lost.
She thought it was probably because of all the people she knew who were taller than him, they were not as handsome. The ones who were more handsome than him were not as kind as him. The men who were kinder than him were not as tall or handsome as he was.
All of these factors added up to make up the one and only Shaun Juhl in this world, which was just the type she loved deeply.
There was no reason for this, but she was too deep in love to pull herself out.
Even though they did not know when Shaun would wake up, there was still no news from Sieben’s side.
The brain was the most crucial and fragile part of the human body. Soren looked at the departing Yvette for a moment and his eyes fell back to the operating room at his side.
A full 11 hours had passed.
Callum gasped and ran up with a large bag of nicely packaged breakfast. He looked around, but Soren was alone.
"Where’s Yvette?" He asked Soren.
Soren did not move and only raised his eyes to look at him. He used his chin and pointed in the direction of the operating room where Shaun was in earlier and said, "The surgery is over."
Callum froze and his expression changed. He hesitantly asked, "He died?" If that was the case, it was understandable that his sister could not accept it and ran away.
Soren could not understand how the head of the Wendell family, who was well-respected and revered, could be this dense.
He was too lazy to say anything, but after thinking about it, he could not bear for Callum to think that Shaun was a dead man. He glanced at Callum and was once again appalled by Callum's leopard print pajamas. "He’s fine and was sent to the ward."
Callum also did not mind what Soren thought about his outfit and breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, that’s good..."
He walked up to Soren and stuffed the big bag of breakfast in his hand into Soren's hand. "You should eat something to get some strength."
Soren did not refuse, but he really did not have much appetite. The bag hung loosely between the fingers, but he also did not throw it away immediately.
These businessmen only cared about money usually, but who knew that they would also have such kindness in their hearts.
"Thanks," Soren said softly to Callum.
Callum chuckled and looked like he wanted to get a beating. “You’re welcome. Can you tell Zayn later that if he wants to give up on Denarius, he can consider selling it to me...”
That day, some people were happy and some were woeful.
Lindsey was awakened by a tiny sharp pain at the tip of her finger.
That sting was like a switch that activated all of the pain in her limbs and bones. Lindsey was sweating profusely in her sleep and finally opened her eyes.
The light in front of her eyes was not too harsh, but Lindsey still subconsciously reached out to block it. Before her hand was raised above her head, she was pulled by someone.
"Don't move." The girl’s voice was cold, like a chilly rain on a fall night.
In front of her was a Caucasian woman, but she was not American. Lindsey also did not know how she came to that conclusion because the woman was speaking in an American accent.
Lindsey's hand was forcibly flattened to her side and only then did she realize what that little sting was. It turned out that the woman was drawing her blood. A sterile cotton swab was pressed to her fingertips and a needle was stuck in the back of her hand.
"Don’t drug me!" Lindsey thought of something and snapped. She spoke in a rush and finished with a few sharp coughs.
The woman was dressed as a doctor and she stared at Lindsey blankly. She said impatiently, "Don't move!"
Lindsey still continued to struggle. The doctor saw this and held her down. "If you don’t listen to me, your child will die."
That woman was strong, or perhaps Lindsey was just weak. Lindsey could not break away from her grasp and could only oblige.
"Don’t lie to me!" Lindsey was extremely anxious about everything. Her free hand was on her belly and she felt some movement, then she felt at ease.
"Where is this place?" Lindsey then noticed that her surroundings were a bit strange.
