Sieben was awake.
She woke up a little earlier than Shaun. She still could not speak, but she could open her eyes and look at people.
This was good news, but Soren did not look happy when he came out of the ward.
"How was it?" Callum came up and asked Soren.
Soren glanced at him and looked away. "She’s awake."
Callum was doubtful. "She’s really awake? Then why aren’t you happy?"
"It’s nothing." Soren sounded like he was in a bad mood. He just shrugged his arm away from Callum's grip, then turned to go into the room he had been staying in these days, closing the door behind him.
"Why is he still like that when she’s awake?" Callum muttered.
Yvette also did not understand. Was it not a good thing that Sieben was awake?
It was almost dark outside. Soren did not turn on the lights in his room. He just sat on the chair, resting his head on the back of the chair that had a jacket hung there.
Soren kept recalling Sieben’s gaze when she opened her eyes and saw him. There was no surprise or tears. There was only distance and pain.
It was an indifferent look one would give a stranger.
Sieben suffered a heavy trauma on her brain and Soren had always thought that he was prepared for any outcome, but seeing the indifference in her eyes, Soren was surprisingly a little overwhelmed.
"It’ll get better." Soren thought to himself, "At least now, she's much better than before."
Sieben was indeed awake, but she still could not speak or move. Every time Soren went to see her, Sieben looked at him with those big, innocent eyes.
Soren could probably understand the meaning in that gaze and was a little wary.
He patiently explained, "Your name is Sieben. My name is Soren."
He actually wanted to say more, but it was clear that there was nothing more to say between them.
Sieben did not have too much of an emotional reaction and just quietly watched him until she was tired and fell asleep.
"The patient's current condition resembles amnesia, but at the moment, we don't know how serious it is. We'll have to wait until she can speak to make further judgments." The doctor also could not explain Sieben's current condition.
The human brain was complex and sophisticated. There were still many areas of the brain that were unknown to science.
Finally, on the third day after Sieben woke up, Shaun also woke up.
At that time, Yvette was rambling to Shaun. This was what she would do every day. While talking, she got out a nail clipper from out of nowhere and helped Shaun trim his nails.
Yvette mindlessly trimmed his nails and stared at his long slender fingers as she said, “Sigh...if you lost your memory like Sieben, I’ll probably just tell you that I’m your girlfriend. I doubt you’ll find out anyway.”
After she said that, Yvette was immersed in her own fantasies and the corners of her mouth curled up to reveal a somewhat playful smile.
"Ahem." A light cough suddenly sounded in her ears, interrupting Yvette’s thoughts.
She looked over in the direction of the voice and her eyes fell on Shaun's face, colliding with a pair of smiling eyes.
The doorbell rang. It rang three times and was sharp and brief. Then, there was silence before the door was opened from the outside.
Zion quickly walked to Zayn and said, "President, we’ve found out about the doctor. He opened a small clinic in a village at the border of two states. Last night, he was asked to treat the owner of a manor. Somehow, after he made a police report, he disappeared. I came back to report to you as soon as I got the news. Our men are now on the way to check out the place."
He finished his report in one breath as he was afraid that Zayn would ask him whether he had verified the information.
The place Zion mentioned was in fact one of the places Zayn had marked, but his people had already checked it out and could not find Lindsey's whereabouts.
However, the opponent was cunning, so what if Lindsey was really there?
Zayn suddenly had a strong feeling that Lindsey might really be there.
This feeling came inexplicably, but it made Zayn's heart tremble. He had been in Germany for so long, yet he had never once felt such a strong pull.
"Get ready. I'll go there myself."
Zion had already gotten used to Zayn's attitude and no longer questioned his decisions like he did at the beginning. When he heard this, he immediately arranged a car for Zayn.
Liam had people watching Zayn, but because Zayn also had his men watching them, it was easy for Zayn to leave the hotel without alerting Liam's people.
An hour later, Zion pointed to a small manor surrounded by a fence in front of him. "President, this is the place."
This manor stood alone with nothing much around it, but they did see a few houses on the way here.
"We just passed by that doctor's house."
