Sophie watched as the sky grew darker. She dismissed the maid, got dressed, and sneaked out the door. After looking around to see that no one was there, she turned around and went towards the treatment room at the back.

Two bodyguards were standing at the door of the treatment room. Sophie's heart was beating incredibly fast and the familiar cramping sensation came back. She forced herself to calm down and walked up to the two. "I want to go in and take a look."

The two bodyguards looked at Sophie. The light was dim, but they still recognized the Madam. They looked at each other and finally said, "Sorry, Madam. Young Master said that only those he permitted can go in here."

"You mean that I still need to report to Liam if I want to go in?" Sophie's eyes turned cold. "I'll tell him myself when he comes back. Get out of my way!"

The two bodyguards hesitated for a moment. "Then please wait a moment. We’ll inform the Young Master first."

"I told you that I’ll tell him later. Are you doubting me?"

Sophie usually looked very kind. This was the first time the two of them had seen Sophie getting so angry. Surprisingly, they felt that she even gave off some of Liam Wilford’s vibes.

They opened the door for Sophie and watched her enter, then let out a deep sigh.

The treatment room was like a haunted house at night. No one would come by and even the maids who took care of Lindsey rarely came.

Thus, when Lindsey heard a knock at the door, Lindsey's first reaction was to grab the small butter knife she hid under her pillow.

"Lindsey, it's me, Sophie." Through the door panel, the knocking stopped abruptly and was replaced by Sophie's anxious and soft voice.

‘It’s...Sophie?’

Lindsey looked at the sky outside. It was already late. What happened a few days ago was still fresh in her mind, so why was Sophie looking for her now?

With doubts in her heart, Lindsey finally opened the door.

Seeing her, Sophie let out a breath of relief. "Thank God, you’re still fine."

Sophie pushed the door open, then closed it right behind her. She looked at Lindsey with serious eyes and said, "I'll send you away."

Lindsey was still surprised by Sophie’s visit. When she heard this, she immediately froze in place.

Sophie felt that it was not a good time to explain, so she nudged Lindsey and said, "We have limited time. Hurry up! There are people standing guard downstairs. I’ll lure them all away later and you can take the opportunity to sneak out. Remember, you must be fast!"

She paused for a moment and lowered her voice. Her voice was hoarse all of a sudden. "Liam...he only did this for me. I know my request is excessive, but when the time comes, can...you and your family not hold him responsible? I beg you."

As Sophie said this, she even wanted to kneel to beg Lindsey.

Lindsey quickly pulled her back up and nearly fell in the process, but she managed to stabilize herself. She pretended to be angry and said, "What are you doing? Get up!"

Seeing that Sophie still looked guilty and sad, Lindsey sighed and said, "Sophie, didn't you say that we’re friends?"

Sophie looked at Lindsey with surprise for a moment. Lindsey noticed and closed her eyes. "I did try to use you to escape at first, but you're a really nice person."

She was clueless, so Lindsey could not even bring herself to hate Sophie.

At the treatment room door, one of the bodyguards lit up a cigarette out of boredom and nudged the person next to him. "Hey, the Madam has been in there for a while. What should we do?"

"No, it’s ok. I'll try to see if I can walk. It doesn't hurt so much when I stand up."

After saying that, she held the man's arm and tried to walk a few steps. At first, she looked like she was afraid to put pressure on her foot, but after a while, she could walk steadily.

Sophie walked a couple of steps forward and lifted her head to smile at them. "I feel much better now. You still have work to do, so don’t worry about me." After saying that, she took two more steps and continued, "It's just that my ankle is a little sore. Sorry for troubling you guys."

The two men quickly said, "Madam, you’re too polite. We should take you back."

"No need." Sophie waved her hand and insisted on them staying here. She then turned around and left by herself.

Sophie could hear the two men's muttering that was carried by the wind, but she pretended not to know.

When the bodyguards could no longer see her, Sophie suddenly turned and walked down a small path that circled to the back of the treatment room.

Lindsey hid in a dark corner and only showed herself when she saw Sophie approaching. Sophie reached out and grabbed her wrist, then whispered, "Follow me."

There was no moonlight that night and only a few street lights were lit, which made it dark where the light did not reach.

Lindsey had already changed into the Wilford mansion’s maid uniform. Her exposed skin was not as fair as before and only reflected the warm street light.

The uniform did not fit well and made her look bloated, but it was enough to cover her bulging belly.

The two of them walked towards the entrance, one after the other. When they reached the bright spot, Sophie let go of Lindsey's hand.
