"Linds! Lindsey!"
Shaun Juhl held her in his arms as his heart instantly filled with panic.
When he touched Lindsey's forehead, it was scalding hot. She clearly had a fever, so he did not hesitate and carried her. Shaun did not have time to drive, so he took a taxi to the hospital.
Lindsey's body was burning up. On the way to the hospital, Shaun pressed his cheek against her forehead in hopes that it would comfort her.
"Bastard...Madman..."
Lindsey was in a daze and was still cursing Zayn Guggenheim in her dreams.
Shaun’s heart ached at the sight of this. The more heartbroken Lindsey was, the more dissatisfied he was with Zayn.
Why should the apple of his eye be treated like this when he was even willing to die for her?
The driver thought they were a couple. Seeing Shaun's anxious face, the driver unconsciously drove faster and they soon arrived at the hospital.
"Her menstruation is probably not very regular. Now that her cycle is approaching, it triggered a series of complications. You can go straight out and turn left to pay the hospital fees."
The female doctor looked at Shaun as if looking at an animal.
The petite woman was lying there pale-faced and only looked to be in her early twenties. It was no wonder the doctor gave Shaun that look as she probably took him as a beast.
Shaun was wrongly accused, but he did not defend himself. He just looked at Lindsey who was lying on the bed and blamed this on Zayn. He then went out to pay the medical bill.
After Shaun left, the doctor on duty shook her head and said with disgust, "Ugh, young people these days!"
Lindsey’s fever quickly subsided, but she did not wake up. Even so, she kept talking in her sleep, all the while cursing Zayn. Shaun listened for a bit and became more irritated.
At this moment, Jenny Lenig went to look for Zayn after work. Last night, Zayn did not chase after her when she left. Although it was expected, she still felt some resentment.
Zayn was reading some documents at the time and Jenny entered Zayn's office with ease because no one in the company dared to stop her. As soon as she went in, she pressed her soft body against Zayn's back.
She whispered in his ear, "Zayn, shall we go for dinner? We didn’t get to eat together last night, so you have to accompany me today!"
Zayn's expression was unchanged. He just leaned forward slightly, pulling them apart, and continued to focus on the documents in his hands.
Jenny was bored and stood up in a huff, but she still waited for Zayn to finish reading his document before speaking again.
"I'm hungry, let’s go for Japanese food!"
She pouted her red lips, expressing her dissatisfaction, while she whined relentlessly.
Zayn seemed to have not seen her plead and dodged her as he put on his jacket.
Jenny thought he was going to accompany her to dinner and felt smug, but the next second, she heard the man's cold voice.
"Sorry, I’m not free today. We’ll go some other time."
After he said this, he turned to leave, but Jenny would never let go of this opportunity.
"What did you say? I already asked your secretary and you don't have any social engagements this evening. Why can't you accompany me to dinner then?"
As Jenny spoke, she felt aggrieved and wanted to cry.
This look might have moved any other guy to immediately embrace her into his arms and coax her.
However, Zayn saw it and only thought of Lindsey suppressing her cries last night. Lindsey had covered her mouth and could not stand it, but she still forced herself to. In the end, she only let out a whimper, like a small animal.
Zayn was angered by that thought and the wound on his shoulder from her bite was faintly hurting again.
Jenny stood across from him, and with a glance, she could see the look of impatience on his face.
Zayn turned around after he finished talking and left without hesitation. Jenny blinked back her tears and watched as Zayn turned to leave. She was aggravated and wanted to curse at him, but she knew she could not just let him leave like this.
She could not let him go back to be together with that b*tch, Lindsey Juhl! This was not her style.
“Ah!”
Suddenly, Jenny shouted.
Zayn continued to walk forward as Jenny simply sat on the ground and sobbed, "Zayn, I'm in pain!"
He hesitated for a moment, but in the end, he still walked back to her.
"Zayn, I twisted my ankle."
Jenny looked at Zayn with her big eyes and did not hide her attachment to him.
She begged, "Zayn, it hurts! Can you take me to the hospital?"
Her ankle was indeed in pain, but she turned her high heels to the side in order to make it look more realistic.
Zayn sent her to the hospital but did not accompany her while she was queueing and getting examined. He even asked a maid from the mansion to come over temporarily.
Jenny was upset about this, but once she considered that Zayn already sent her to the hospital, she felt it would be too annoying of her to ask him for anything more, so she forced herself to bottle up her emotions.
Zayn was sitting outside in the corridor, waiting. His heart was already in a mess when he saw Shaun Juhl out of the blue.
Shaun was just coming down from Lindsey's ward. He wanted to buy her some food so that she could eat when she woke up.
When the two men made eye contact, the rage in their hearts caused by each other instantly shrouded over their reasoning.
