A touch of agony flashed across Yvette’s eyes and the tears that she had suppressed seemed to gush out again, as if the embarrassment of that night was repeating itself.

"Does it matter?" Yvette swallowed the lump in her throat and she sounded like she did not care. "With or without that night, I would’ve given up. No one can keep being so passionate to someone who doesn't love them back."

After she said that, she opened the car door without hesitation and slammed it shut.

Shaun's chest suddenly felt hollow like he had lost something important. A gust of wind passed through his chest and made his heart feel desolate.

He moved his fingers feebly, but he did not stop her.

Shaun suddenly had a strong desire to go after Yvette, but what should he say after he caught up to her?

He had never been this lost before.

The car still smelled like Yvette's perfume, which was faintly sweet with a woody fragrance. It was fresh and nice.

Shaun was lost in thought for a while and felt that he was really out of character today. He took a deep breath and tried to stop thinking about Yvette, but he accidentally kicked something.

It was Yvette's light pink diamond-studded high heels.

When Shaun carried her out of the Moeller mansion, her shoes fell off while she was struggling. Shaun picked them up for her and threw them under the seat after getting into the car.

His heart clenched. Shaun looked out the window, but Yvette had already disappeared into the night.

"This fool!" Shaun was frustrated and angry, but he was also distressed.

Yvette had left a while ago. Shaun started the car while he called her, but her phone was ringing in the back seat of the car.

She did not even bring her phone with her.

After he brought Yvette into the car, he drove out of the Moeller mansion. There was only one road going towards the city. The way back was to the Moeller mansion, but Shaun saw that Yvette did not go that way.

So, this fool really planned to walk back?

The more Shaun thought about it, the more exasperated he was, which made him drive faster. In the distance, he saw Yvette walking on the road barefooted.

Shaun took a deep breath.

In the next second, Yvette reached out to hail a cab.

Shaun was only a few seconds behind.

The taxi was headed towards the city. Considering Yvette's resistance to himself, Shaun did not chase after her and followed quietly from behind.

Instead of going to Yvette's villa, the cab went to the locally famous bar street.

Then, Shaun watched as Yvette walked barefoot into one of the bars.

Shaun slammed his hand on the steering wheel. The loud honk startled the taxi driver in front of him. Shaun took a deep breath. By the time he found a place to park his car and walked into the bar, it was already ten minutes later.

He looked dapper in his dress suit, but his face was incredibly glum. Several women who wanted to approach him saw the look on his face and were scared back by his frightening vibes.

Shaun swept a glance around the bar. When he saw the woman lying on the bar counter, his pounding heart calmed down a little.

Shaun took Yvette in his arms and left in a huff. Yvette's struggle did not faze him at all.

He threw her into the car and slammed the door shut. Then, he walked to the driver's seat and drove away before Yvette could react.

"Shaun Juhl! What the hell do you want?!" Shaun was not at all gentle with her. Yvette rubbed her bruised forehead as tears welled up in her eyes. Her attitude towards Shaun also became worse.

Shaun's lips were tightly pressed together and he did not say a word.

From the back seat, he could hear the sound of Yvette’s heavy breathing. Yvette did not know why, but she suddenly felt dizzy with waves of vertigo. Her stomach also started to churn uncomfortably.

"Shaun, stop the car! I feel dizzy!" She sat up holding the car seat and did not look as fierce as she did earlier.

Shaun looked at Yvette through the rearview mirror. He did not speak but slowed down the car.

Yvette felt horrible. She did not expect the alcohol to be so strong that she did not even have the strength to scold Shaun.

The white car was like a stream of light in the night. When they arrived at Shaun’s house, he slammed on the brakes. The knot in his chest still made him feel uncomfortable.

Yvette leaned back on the car seat. Her eyes were a little blurred. “Where are we?”

Shaun was solemn for a while and still did not speak. He pushed open the car door and went around the back, then leaned down and picked Yvette up.

"Let go of me!" Yvette reached out and slapped him, but it was like hitting cotton because she barely had any strength.

When she spoke, Shaun noticed the strong smell of alcohol in her mouth.
