"Lydia even said that you’ll certainly surprise me. What a big surprise! This time, the deal fell through because you went missing. Next time, if you’re suddenly found dead on the streets, will the whole company be buried with you?" The Director's words were getting harsher by the minute.

Lindsey's brain buzzed. She kept telling herself to just bear it since she was the one who was at fault. If she endured it, the Director's anger would dissipate after some time.

“Lindsey Juhl, didn’t your parents ever teach you basic manners? You’re an adult, but what’s in that brain of yours? If this is your work aptitude, then I advise you to get the hell out of here and go back to your parents, then you can disappear for as long as you like!"

Lindsey's downcast eyes instantly widened as she lifted her head.

"What did you say?"

The Director was still venting his anger and did not know what he said.

"What I’m saying is if you’re not capable, get the hell out of here!"

"It's not up to you whether I leave or not. Also, bringing my parents into this doesn't necessarily show your intelligence." Although Lindsey did not know who her parents were, she did not want anyone to slander them like that.

The Director did not expect her to refute and choked back his words that he even forgot what he wanted to say.

"Director, I'll leave first if there's nothing else. I'll accept whatever punishment the company decides." After Lindsey talked back to the Director, she did not want to continue standing there to be berated. Since she would get penalized later, it did not matter whether she received an extra round of scolding, so she decided to leave.

"What are you doing? I’m not done talking. Lindsey Juhl, stop right there!" The Director was furious when he saw Lindsey leave.

However, Lindsey ignored him and opened the door to walk out. She then saw everyone from the department surrounding the Director's office with one ear to the door, obviously eavesdropping. When they saw her come out, they pretended to be busy with their tasks.

The Director was yelling earlier, so there was no need to even eavesdrop by the door. The whole department could already hear what was going on in the room clearly.

These people were just enjoying the show.

Lydia was also standing at the door. When she saw Lindsey walking out, Lydia pulled her to the side without a care for what others thought.

"What's wrong with you?" Lydia poked Lindsey's head and stomped her feet.

Lindsey did not know how to explain. After letting Lydia vent her anger, Lindsey shook her head and said, "I'll get back to work."

"Work? The deal with Anton fell through! Do you know how much money the company will lose? Now you still want to work? Seeing the Director’s face earlier, he wouldn’t give you any work to do. He might even fire you!" Lydia was exasperated.

"That’s fine too. It’s my fault anyway, so I’ll accept the company’s decision." Lindsey was calm as she had already prepped herself for the worst.

"Sigh, you..."

"Lindsey, Mr. Juhl is looking for you." The glasses-wearing girl sitting at the door suddenly interrupted them. She was the only one in the entire department who was not standing by the Director’s office door watching the show.

"Lydia, I'll head upstairs then." Lindsey took the opportunity to get out of Lydia's nagging.

Lindsey wore a long-sleeved dress that covered the marks on her arm. When she walked to Shaun's office door, she deliberately checked to make sure that there was no trace of the injury before she knocked on the door.

Shaun was also looking for her to ask her about the incident yesterday.

"Is everything okay?" Shaun already knew that Zayn took her away. He did not mention the Anton project and was only worried about Lindsey’s wellbeing. Naturally, he did not tell her that he felt uneasy last night and went over to the Guggenheim mansion, only to be blocked by the maids at the door.

"I'm fine." Lindsey lowered her head and added, "I’m sorry that the deal fell through because of me."

"Silly girl, why are you apologizing to me?" Shaun did not blame her at all and continued, "This wasn’t your fault, so don't blame yourself."

"Shaun, will the company fire me?" Lindsey looked up at him.

Initially, Lindsey did not have to put up with these people’s taunts.

She wanted to prove herself with her own strength, but one move by Zayn ruined all her efforts.

Zayn Guggenheim!

Lindsey clenched her fists tightly and got up in a huff. Next to her, the group of them were still chiming one after and another. Lindsey walked past them angrily, bringing up a gust of wind as she left.

"What is she showing when she’s already like this?"

Denarius Corporation.

The sunlight was a little glaring. In an impulse, Lindsey had gone to the Denarius office lobby. The rage in her heart had already burned away all her reasoning.

Why should she put up with Zayn when he treated her like this?

"Hello, do you have an appointment?" The receptionist smiled politely.

"No, tell Zayn Guggenheim that Lindsey Juhl is here to see him."

The receptionist looked at the girl in front of her who was better-looking than some movie stars, but she did not expect the beauty to be so grumpy when she spoke.

There were plenty of beautiful women using various excuses to look for Mr. Guggenheim, so the receptionist was already experienced in this aspect.

"Sorry, you can’t see him without an appointment."

Lindsey looked at the receptionist and smiled as she said, "Okay."
