After Lindsey left the kindergarten, on the way back home, Lindsey carefully thought about it and found that the more she thought about it, the weirder it was. How could there be such a coincidence that the child who said that Dezi could not speak yesterday had transferred schools today?
Her thoughts unconsciously drifted back to what happened yesterday in the furniture store.
When she saw those two people yesterday, her brain buzzed and she was enraged, so she lost her wits. Now that she thought about it, she felt suspicious.
Those two people did not look like the kind of people who would go shopping at a furniture store.
Zayn would have asked the store to bring all the furniture to his home and go through it in the comfort of his mansion. Ann also looked like a pampered young lady, so why would these two go to such a commoner place by themselves?
However, these two not only went, but even “coincidentally” bumped into her? If this was a coincidence, then it was simply too ridiculous.
If it was not a coincidence, what was the reason they wanted to see her? Was it to show off their love in front of her? To make their presence known?
If that was the case, these two really went to great lengths to get under her skin. Lindsey’s eyes turned cold and she rubbed her temples. She kind of regretted slapping Ann yesterday and she still could not bring herself to hit Zayn.
As she was walking, she heard a honk behind her. Lindsey turned around and saw Shaun lowering his car window and waving at her, signaling for Lindsey to get in.
"Brother!" Lindsey was a bit surprised to see Shaun at this hour. She got into the car and looked at Shaun's side profile as she asked, "Why are you here? By the way, how did it go with Yvette yesterday?"
The car just arrived at a traffic light intersection. Shaun was stimulated by Lindsey mentioning Yvette and slammed on the brakes. The tires of the car going at high speed created a long trail on the ground, accompanied by an ear-splitting sound.
Lindsey was not prepared for the sudden jerk and hit her head on the back of the passenger seat. "Brother, what's wrong with you?"
Shaun did not realize that this would hurt Lindsey. Rather, he was completely distracted.
He turned to look at Lindsey, who was rubbing her forehead and wincing. He looked apologetic as he said, "Are you alright? Do you want to go to the hospital?"
"No, no." Lindsey quickly waved her hand. "I'm fine, but are you okay?"
Seeing Shaun like this, Lindsey did not need to ask to guess that the conversation he had with Yvette must not be good. However, this was not what Lindsey was hoping for.
While waiting for the traffic light to turn green, Shaun did not speak, so Lindsey patiently waited. When the car in front of them started moving, Shaun slowly began to speed up. "Linds, why don’t I marry you?"
Lindsey was looking at a car outside. That license plate number seemed familiar as she had seen it several times. She did not get to think about it much when Shaun's distant voice interrupted her.
"Huh?" Lindsey turned her head and forgot about that license plate number. She asked again like she was mistaken, "Brother, what did you say?"
Shaun looked at her through the rearview mirror and repeated what he had just said, "Why don’t I marry you and take care of Dezi with you?"
Lindsey's eyes widened instantly and looked at Shaun in shock. "Brother, what exactly did Yvette say to make you lose your mind?"
Seeing Lindsey's disbelief, Shaun controlled the steering wheel with one hand and pounded it fiercely with his other hand, making a loud noise.
He sounded so despondent and his long fingers were gently covering his eyes. Lindsey had never seen Shaun like this before.
Shaun did not say another word until he drove Lindsey home. She did not know how to comfort him, so she was silent.
When they arrived at Opal Suites, Lindsey pushed open the car door. "Then I'll go up first."
"Mm, go ahead." Shaun smiled at her tiredly. "I'll pick up Dezi in the afternoon. I haven't seen him in the past few days and I miss him."
"Okay." Lindsey also hoped that Shaun could do something to distract himself.
It was futile for anyone to advise them about their relationship. Even though Lindsey hoped that Shaun and Yvette would end up together, it was not her place to interfere in their affairs.
"Sigh..." Lindsey sighed and turned to walk back.
Before she reached the stairs, the phone in her purse rang.
Lindsey picked it up. "Hello, Soren?"
"Ma...are you home now?"
