Lindsey and her assistant subconsciously took a step back. Lindsey’s consciousness was fading, but her gaze was still alert when she saw the other party.
The corridor was empty as it was most likely cleared in advance, but there were still many people at the seminar not far behind her, so Lindsey made up her mind to run back if things went wrong.
Lindsey could not even stand upright, but her mind was actively thinking about countermeasures. These two men looked at her as if she was their prey, which caused alarm bells to ring in her heart.
"Ms. Juhl." One of them came forward with a stiff smile on his face, but because of the malicious light under his eyes, his smile looked extraordinarily forced. He reached out to take Lindsey’s hand. “My boss wants to meet you, please come with me.”
Lindsey took a step back, and the assistant beside her followed suit.
"Go away," Lindsey said with strong composure, "I won't see anyone."
Even though Lindsey tried to make her voice sound a little more imposing, she simply could not fight her body's weakness.
Thus, the words that Lindsey spoke with sternness sounded extraordinarily soft and not at all intimidating to others.
The man sized her up with lecherous eyes while he pretended to care for her. “Ms. Juhl, are you feeling unwell?”
Lindsey ignored him and held her assistant's hand as she whispered, "Let’s go back and find Quentin."
Her voice was weak. Panic flashed across her assistant's eyes probably because she was scared silly. She held Lindsey's hand but did not move.
The figures in front of Lindsey's eyes were starting to overlap. She knew that she could not hold on much longer, so she had to be quick.
The two men behind her approached at some point and surrounded Lindsey. He said, "Our boss sincerely wants to see you, Ms. Juhl. If you’re feeling unwell, our boss can immediately arrange for a doctor to come."
Lindsey wanted to ask who their boss was. Many guesses crossed her mind. Ann? Arthur? Or was it someone else she did not know?
However, her mind was so muddled that she could not think properly.
Lindsey could feel her sanity and strength draining from her body. She pinched her palm with her free hand and whispered to her assistant again, "Let’s go back!"
Her tone this time was not pleasant and her assistant heard it. Looking at Lindsey’s pained expression, a struggle flashed across the assistant’s eyes. She then stumbled to help Lindsey to walk back.
The two men behind them looked at each other. They did not want to make a big fuss, and it would be better if it looked like Lindsey took the initiative to follow them.
However, Lindsey could still retain some clarity after getting drugged, which was different from what they envisioned. The two men quickly chased after them and tugged the assistant's arm from behind. "Wait."
The assistant was shaking, perhaps because she was extremely scared. Suddenly, she let go of Lindsey's hand. Lindsey had no strength left. Her feet were limp, so she fell to the ground in an instant.
Lindsey could feel someone catching her, and the smell from that stranger made her feel repulsed. "Let go of me!"
The assistant did not see the lewdness in his eyes as she was frightened at the thought of those few men that the man just mentioned. She could never look those men in the eye and always lowered her head in their presence. If they knew that she was really involved in this matter...
She was so frightened that she did not notice they were being led out a narrow door and dragged to the service elevator.
Lindsey had completely lost her mobility. She did not know what they drugged her with because she was obviously still conscious, but completely powerless. Her eyes also could not focus.
She was unaware that the way she looked at this moment was quite pitiable.
The man holding Lindsey could not help but reach out to touch Lindsey's face. Just as he reached out, the man next to him said, "What are you doing?"
The man hurriedly withdrew his hand. "Nothing."
The other man glared at him. "Don't even think about it...she's not ours."
As they spoke, the elevator moved steadily upward and reached the 23rd floor. They were just about to drag her out when the phone in Lindsey's purse suddenly rang.
This time, except for Lindsey, the remaining three people all raised their heads and turned to the purse Lindsey was carrying.
The assistant's voice sounded like she was crying as she said, "It must be Mr. Juhl calling. She has a company dinner party that she must attend later."
