The breathing on the other end of the call stalled for a few seconds, followed by a surprised shriek.

"Shaun, is that you? You’re really back? Someone said that you're back in the country, but I didn’t believe it. Yes, we moved, so you won’t be able to find it. I’ll send you the address. Or tell me where you are and we’ll go pick you up."

"There’s no need." Shaun rejected Stephanie’s offer and continued, "I know the address. Tell me when you have time and I’ll go back."

Even if he was resentful and disliked his parents' greedy attitude, Shaun could not deny that his parents' love for him was real. It was because of this he felt even more guilty towards Lindsey.

After hanging up the phone, Shaun pinched the bridge of his nose and called in the person who had been waiting outside for a long time.

"Mr. Juhl, you have a meeting soon."

"Alright, you may leave."

Consulting Department.

"Lydia, am I really the keynote speaker for this meeting?" The surprise on Fenly's face was unconcealed.

"Yes, prepare well. Mr. Juhl will be at the meeting and the agenda is on the document that Lindsey gave you yesterday. It shouldn’t be a problem, right?"

"No problem." How could Fenly drop the ball at a time like this? She quickly accepted it.

Seeing her joyful look, Lydia did not say much and turned to Lindsey.

"Are you okay?"

Lindsey returned to her senses and replied, "Yes, I'm fine."

This time, Lindsey was supposed to be the main speaker, but the Director wanted to promote Fenly to replace her. Seeing that Lindsey was so calm, Lydia did not say much and patted her shoulder to comfort her.

"Fenly, have you finished the report I gave you yesterday?" Lindsey saw that Lydia had left and turned to ask the overjoyed Fenly.

"What do you want?" Fenly was immersed in her own world. It was as if she had already seen the day when she rode on Lindsey’s head and instantly became rude towards Lindsey.

"Bring it to me. You’ll need it for the meeting later and the Director wants me to take a look at it first." Lindsey was not hostile.

"I've already done it. Since the boss said that I'm responsible, I don't think it's necessary to hand it over to you, right?" Fenly said as a matter of fact.

Lindsey also did not dwell with her.

At 2:00 pm, the meeting started on time.

Fenly stood confidently in front of the conference room and opened the Powerpoint she prepared.

Lindsey was unsure what happened in the meeting, but the two-hour meeting was shortened to just forty minutes. After coming out of the meeting room, the Director's face looked so horrid as if he had stepped on dog shit.

A few moments later, there was a loud bout of cursing from inside the Director's office.

Lindsey turned a deaf ear to it and did not enjoy the feeling of having the tables turned.

Fenly came back and cried, but not many people went up to comfort her.

It seemed that Fenly was scolded by Mr. Juhl for something she had done and even implicated the Director.

After work, Shaun sent Lindsey a message saying that he was waiting for her at the basement parking lot.

Since their sorrowful hug in the rain, Lindsey and Shaun had not seen each other in days.

Shaun had gone abroad with his team and had not shown up these past few days.

Lindsey knew what he wanted to say, but she did not reject him and took the elevator down to the basement after work.

Shaun's car was a low-profile black MPV. As soon as Lindsey came down, she saw the lights flashing in the distance.

"Big Brother!"

"Come in, I’ll take you home."

These days, Zayn had been picking her up from work, so Lindsey subconsciously refused and said, "No..."

It then occurred to her that they fought last night.

Lindsey bit her lips and had a feeling that Zayn would not pick her up today.

Lindsey wanted to tell him that it was okay, but she could not bring herself to say it. It was tough to pretend that nothing was wrong with all the damage that his parents had caused her.

"Shaun, this has nothing to do with you." Shaun was unaware of it and it did not involve him.

"I’ll meet them and tell them to stop harassing you. Linds, don't worry. I’ll protect you."

Shaun said this with such conviction that Lindsey felt a surge of warmth in her heart.

"They’re still your parents."

"You don't have to worry about this." Shaun was rarely tough in front of Lindsey.

Shaun kept his word and dropped Lindsey off at the entrance of the neighborhood.

Lindsey bid him goodbye and walked a few steps away when an oncoming car caught her eye.

It was Zayn's car.

What a coincidence!

Shaun had also noticed it. He initially wanted to leave, but he stopped.

As the silver car slowly approached them, the memories of Zayn and Shaun fighting because of Lindsey came flooding back to her. She frowned and stopped in her tracks.

Both Shaun and Lindsey were tense, but Zayn's car did not even slow down as it drove by them.

The car flew by and at that moment, Lindsey did not know if she was more relieved or disappointed.

"You guys..."

"We’re fine." Lindsey quickly defended.

She smiled at Shaun and ignored his worried gaze, then walked towards the Guggenheim mansion.

If Lindsey was not mistaken, she thought she saw Jenny Lenig in Zayn's car.
