The man ran his hands through his hair and let out a desperate and suppressed roar.

Lindsey was too confident in her own health. She thought that her fever would be gone after some sleep, but she had been feverish all night, which somehow turned out to be pneumonia by the next day. She only woke up the next afternoon.

When the hospital called Quentin, he was nearly scared to death. He hurriedly shouted for the meeting to be adjourned, then immediately drove Mrs. Wendy and Dezi to the hospital.

Thus, when Lindsey woke up, she saw three heads staring at her blankly by the bed.

Lindsey opened her mouth, but her throat was so dry and her lips were cracked, so she could not make a sound.

Dezi quickly took a glass of water to Lindsey’s lips. His eyes were timid and his voice was so soft like he was afraid he would scare her. “Mommy, drink some water...”

Lindsey took a few sips with her son holding up the glass. When she saw Dezi, she suddenly felt aggrieved and bitter, which made her eyes red.

"Why are you all here?" She frantically blinked a few times to suppress her tears, then stroked her son's head and reached out to put the glass of water down.

Quentin was sitting there with his arms crossed and his expression was glum. He was angry as he said, "Your fever turned into pneumonia and you were almost transferred to the ICU!"

"Huh?" Lindsey did not expect it to be so serious, except that her body just felt so uncomfortable and exhausted.

Mrs. Wendy's eyes were red as she raised her hand to tuck Lindsey under the blanket. "Are you hungry? I made some soup. Get up and eat something."

Lindsey did not feel hungry, but she did not want to let Mrs. Wendy down, so she reluctantly sat up and waited for Mrs. Wendy to serve her a bowl of soup. She then took small sips of it.

Since Lindsey was awake, it meant that she was fine for now. Dezi still had to go to school and Quentin had to go back to the office, so the two of them left first, leaving Lindsey and Mrs. Wendy alone in the ward.

"Look at you, I told you to bring a coat, but you didn't listen. Now you have a high fever after attending an event." Mrs. Wendy looked at Lindsey as she nagged at her.

Lindsey just buried her head in the bowl of soup and continued drinking it. From time to time, she would let out some “mm” and “oh” as a response.

As Mrs. Wendy nagged Lindsey, she saw the wound on Lindsey’s hand and continued, “You should listen to Quentin too and bring two bodyguards wherever you go. Look what happened last night! It’s a good thing you only lost your purse, but what if they had a weapon? How scary would that be?! Don't be so brave next time.”

Lindsey drank another mouthful of soup and said incoherently, "Mm-hmm, got it."

After a long sigh, Mrs. Wendy watched Lindsey finish half a bowl of soup after so long and said helplessly, "You need to eat more. Look at how skinny you are!"

‘Look at how skinny you are!’

Lindsey abruptly stopped in her movements. Mr. Cooper had said something similar before. His tone carried some helplessness, bitterness, and heartache.

The chicken soup in her mouth suddenly became tasteless to Lindsey.

If Mr. Cooper was Zayn...if he was really Zayn, then he clearly cared about her and deliberately approached her, but why was he not willing to admit it?

‘Was I really mistaken? Was it because I missed Zayn too much?’ Her eyes felt sore and her tears nearly fell into the bowl of soup.

Lindsey stayed in the hospital for three days and was only discharged on the afternoon of the fourth day.

After she was discharged, she went straight to Denarius.

Lindsey did not have such a strong aura after having just recovered from an illness. When she went back to the familiar office, she looked around. This place was pretty much the same as when Zayn was still around because she did not change anything. At this moment, when she stared at this familiar yet strange office, she secretly made a decision.

She slid her finger up to another number and called it.

"Hello, Mr. Jenner. It's me, Lindsey Juhl."

There was some exchange of pleasantries before Lindsey said with a smile, "I have a project on hand that’s pretty good. Mr. Jenner, if you’re in Atlantic City, let's meet up and talk about it."

About a minute later, Lindsey hung up the phone, and her smile faded with it.

An hour later, at the Blue Moon Cafe.

He was eager to establish his authority in Tencello so that his father could see his ability. Thus, he needed to suck up to Denarius.

It was a nice day and the sunlight was warm through the window. It felt like spring had arrived.

Half of Lindsey’s body was basking in the sunlight. She raised her eyebrows, then reached out to take a document out of her bag and waved it in front of Alfred.

Alfred was staring straight at it and immediately stretched out his hand to take the document.
