"Luke, how dare you ask? You used that ten million so shamelessly, don't you know she sold her blood to earn it?"
"You piece of trash! You sat in prison for seven years, and now you can only rely on a woman to climb back up?"
James shouted.
Luke's face was filled with disbelief. After a long pause, he finally spoke.
"You made her sell her blood?"
"James, are you crazy? Make her sell her blood? With her health, do you want her to die?"
James frowned.
"Stop with the dramatics! I've never heard of anyone dying from selling blood..."
At that moment, his phone rang again. It was the butler. He answered impatiently.
"What is it?"
"Sir, it’s Madam..."
"I’ve told you before, stop bothering me about her! Unless she’s dead!"
"Yes..."
The butler was trembling with fear.
"But... it seems something really happened to Madam!"
James froze completely, and after a long moment, he finally spoke into the phone.
"What nonsense are you talking? She's perfectly fine, what could have happened to her?"
The butler, trembling, shared everything he knew.
"Madam hasn't returned in a long time, and I was worried, so I asked the servants to keep an eye out for anything she might have left behind, like a note or something indicating she ran away..."
"And they actually found a hospital report. The report said..."
James impatiently urged, "What did it say?"
"It said Madam’s brain injury was too severe. She only has a month left to live!"
"The report was from a month ago, and now a month has passed. Madam has disappeared without a trace..."
The butler continued to speak, but James couldn't hear a word.
His mind was buzzing, and everything went blank for a moment.
The injury was too severe...
Heather seemed completely normal on the outside, how could her injury be so serious?
When did she get hurt?
As he recalled the three years since their marriage, although he had treated her horribly, he hadn’t actually hurt her physically.
