“James, what do you want me to say?”

“Apologize? Fine, I apologize. I’m sorry to Helen…”

“Or, do you want me to wish you well? That’s fine too. I, Heather, wish James and Helen a lifetime together…”

“Or, do you want to slap me again to feel better? Go ahead, if you want to hit me, just do it. Don’t waste my time.”

She tilted her head back, closed her eyes, as if waiting for that slap to land.

James froze, and for a long time, he didn’t react.

The scene was dead silent.

Suddenly, a woman’s figure rushed out from the crowd, protecting Heather behind her, and pointed at James’s nose, shouting angrily.

“James, are you even a man?! Hitting a woman?”

“Did you forget when you were poor and had nothing, Heather chose you? She had many wealthy and handsome men chasing her back then!”

“You’re having an affair, and now you even have the mistress flaunting it in public, bullying your wife? You’ve completely lost the face of a man!”

Heather opened her eyes in shock and looked at the woman standing in front of her.

It was Xena, her best friend from college, who was righteous but impulsive.

Heather knew things were getting out of hand.

Sure enough, James’s face darkened. After being together for so many years, she had never seen him look so terrifying.

Before he could speak, Helen cried out behind him.

“Who are you calling a mistress!”

“I’m talking about you, Helen! Your sister didn’t even want to spend the scholarship money for herself, but gave it to you to pay for your tuition.

Without her, you wouldn’t even have gone to college! How did you repay her? By seducing her husband, your own brother-in-law?”

“Bitch, what nonsense are you talking! I warn you, if you spread another word, I’ll make you suffer!”

Xena was about to keep cursing, but Heather quickly pulled her behind her.

“Don’t say anything more, Xena…”

She had seen James send her sworn enemy to jail with his own hands. She knew how ruthless he could be. If he wanted to, he could make Xena disappear without a trace.

“Brother-in-law, look at them! They’re bullying me! You must get justice for me…”

Helen cried, looking pitiful.

Heather stepped forward voluntarily.

“Helen, I apologize for Xena. You can punish me however you want, but this is a matter between the three of us. Please don’t involve anyone else.”
