Shannons' voice was light when she spoke, but the question made it feel as if she'd just dropped a bomb on Cecily.

Cecily widened her eyes in surprise. It never occurred to her that Shannon would overhear the conversation at the Cooper residence

As fast as Cecily was on her feet, she couldn't think of how to respond or retaliate.

Before she could recompose herself, Scott rushed from the living room into the hallway and demanded, "Ben doesn't want you to call him 'Ben'. Why are you still calling him that?"

Cecily's ears turned red from anger and embarrassment at the question.

She explained, "I-I got used to calling him that. I'm not used to calling him 'Mr. Cooper' yet."

That was all she could come up with after trying her best to calm herself down.

Then, she glanced at Shannon and said, "It's just that our families are close. We wouldn't want any misunderstandings, right? I won't say anything in the future if you're not happy about it."

Cecily's voice faltered at the end of the sentence.

Out of the blue, she heard the system say, "Scott's affection level is reduced by three points. His current affection level is at 61 points. Cecily is on the verge of failing and must increase her affection level with said target as soon as possible."

Cecily stiffened. She glanced at Scott in disbelief.

What did she even do? Why did his affection level decrease by three points all of a sudden?

He ignored her and steered away from her back then. She didn't blame him for that, but how could he treat her like this?
