Just as Shannon's amulet was about to strike the system again, a figure suddenly leaped in front of it to block the attack.

Shannon abruptly stopped swinging her amulet.

It was Cecily. When the fire lightning struck earlier, it'd broken the sigil chains that had been binding her feet. Though she'd regained her freedom, she'd only managed to recover now from the system's departure and the lightning strike.

The first thing she did after regaining her composure was to position herself between Shannon and the system. She held a doll in one hand and clutched its head with the other as if she were about to twist it off.

"Stop!" She weakly threatened Shannon. "This doll contains Mrs. Jensen Senior's living soul. If you don't stop, I'll break its neck!"

If the doll were damaged, the living soul within it would also suffer. Cecily believed that Shannon wouldn't dare risk Marie's living soul.

Everything had happened too suddenly, and Cecily hadn't had a chance to take out the doll. But now wasn't too late either.

As Shannon was momentarily hesitating, Cecily urged the system, "Hurry and come to me!"

She snatched the doll from Cecily and kicked her hard in the side. Cecily was sent flying and crashing outside the protective array.
