After saying thank you, Caleb didn't find it as awkward as expected. He straightened up and added seriously, "Shannon, you've saved me twice now."

On the other end of the screen, Shannon watched as he solemnly expressed his gratitude. She asked, "That's it?"

Her calm reaction left Caleb slightly unsatisfied, but he replied, "Yeah, that's it."

"Got it," she said flatly before promptly ending the call.

Caleb stared at the black screen in disbelief. What?

He hadn't finished talking, so why had she hung up so quickly? And what about "got it"?

"She… She's doing this on purpose, right?" Caleb pointed at the phone in disbelief and glanced at Scott.

When she'd told him to keep the talisman on him, he'd just brushed her off with an annoyed "got it", so it'd make sense that she was now getting her revenge.

"She must have done it on purpose! How petty can she get? Give me the phone; I'm calling her again."

As Caleb reached out to snatch the phone, Scott swiftly pulled it back and took several steps away. "Come on, Caleb. You're acting unreasonable.

"Shannon isn't someone like that, and she wouldn't be so unpleasant if you weren't always assuming the worst of her."

He'd checked his call log and knew that before he'd ended up getting blocked, Hank had used his phone to call Shannon repeatedly. Now Caleb's demand was starting to look a little familiar like Hank's.

"Trust me. As a guy, you've got to avoid being too annoying," Scott added.

Caleb glared at him. "Get lost!"
