Chapter 118 

Timothy didn’t get a response from Xavier on the other end of the phone, so he asked again. 

Xavier snapped back to attention. He had sponsored the Avelon Designs Competition to keep an eye on Lily, but now it seemed unnecessary. 

Still, since the agreement had already been made, he had no reason to back out. 

He spoke softly, saying, “Hand over the Avelon Designs issues to Ms. Lynde. Starting tomorrow, you don’t need to be involved anymore.” 

“Understood.” Timothy didn’t understand why they were sponsoring a home decor design competition, but then he remembered that Lily was now working in that field. He thought it might be related to her, but he didn’t dare to ask. 

After hanging up, Xavier inexplicably felt much more at ease. Logically, Lily’s new involvement with him should have annoyed him, but he felt a strange sense of satisfaction instead. 

Maybe it was just a man’s pride–being so persistently thought about by a woman. 

He adjusted his suit jacket and entered the elevator, heading straight for the VIP ward on the top floor. 

Inside, Edith, who was dressed in a hospital gown, looked healthy with a rosy complexion, though she sighed heavily 

“Xavirer, if you 

had come any later, I would have reunited with your grandfather.” 

Xavier stood by the hospital bed. “Did Grandpa come back from the dead?” 

He’d rather believe his grandfather had risen from the dead than think his lively grandmother was unwell. 

Edith paused in her gesture of holding her forehead and looked at him through her fingers. “Your grandfather appeared to me in a dream last night.” 

Xavier replied flatly, “Just tell me what you want.” 

“Your grandfather said that after two years of marriage, you still haven’t gotten Lili pregnant. It might be because of some health issue, so he suggested you get a thorough check–up” She casually used her late husband as an excuse. 

“I have a physical exam every year, Xavier reminded her. 

Upon hearing his words, Edith lost patience. After a few words, she switched her tone. 

“It’s not a health issue, is it? Why is it so hard for you to get a check–up done? I’ve already arranged for the doctor. Come in the morning on an empty stomach!” 

Xavier rubbed his forehead helplessly. “So, are you checking out of the hospital?” 

“No! If you don’t get the check–up done, I’ll stay here!” Edith huffed and turned away. 

Soon after, she seemed to remember something and looked back at him. 

“Don’t tell Lily I’m pressuring you to get the check–up while I’m in the hospital. Women shouldn’t be under pressure. Otherwise, it’s hard to get pregnant. I’ll tell her once we rule out your issues and confirm you’re fine.”
