To Richard and Marika, it sounded as if Xavier was unhappy about the Devereux Group’s consideration of entering the real estate business. 

Richard changed the subject immediately and said, “He’s definitely making excuses to not get married. If you know of anyone suitable, do introduce them to us.” 

“We’ll need to know if Terence has any preferences or standards,” Shane replied before adding, “Does it have to be a match in social status?” 

Marika opened her mouth to speak, but was interrupted by Terence, “There’s no need. She just has to be compatible.” 

“There are plenty of excellent women out there.” 

In a moment, the parents began discussing in earnest. Lily had stayed out of the conversation throughout. She seriously wondered when Xavier had become so childish and ridiculous. 

She had allowed him to take control of the situation from the moment she entered the room and sat down. 

Lily could feel Xavier’s gaze occasionally drifting toward her, especially when the discussion was about Terence’s future partner. His gaze had never left 

her. 

Lily concluded that she shouldn’t have taken the day off to do something so meaningless. But if she hadn’t come, she wouldn’t get her living expenses. About an hour late, the gathering finally ended. The Devereux family left first. After their departure, Tamara chatted with Xavier for a while. “What do you think about the Devereux family’s matter?” Tamara asked Xavier. 

Xavier kept it short and to the point. “There’s nothing to be wary of. They can’t shake the Fulton’s foundation.” 

“Then why didn’t you just say yes?” Tamara frowned. “You kept pushing them to focus on Terence’s marriage first. Doesn’t that seem like you are rejecting them?” 

“I’m just being honest,” Xavier said with a cold expression and slipped a hand into his pocket. “He should focus on marriage first, then his career.” Xavier thought it was better than Terence having all the time in the world to go on exhibition visits with Lily. He felt that Terence had no sense of boundaries. Lily was Xavier’s wife, after all. 

Tamara couldn’t understand Xavier’s unusual behavior and said, “Is this something that concerns you?” 

“My dear wife, it’s getting late. We should go home now,” Shane came over and wrapped his arm around Tamara as they walked to the car. “You little brat, stop making your mom angry.” 

Xavier had come in the same car as Shane and Tamara, and he would ride in Lily’s car to return home. Lily respectfully saw Shane and Tamara off and finally got the chance to speak to Xavier in private.
