Chapter 203
Xavier was cleverly cutting off all of Lily’s options.
Two hours into her stay at the villa, Xavier was handling work in his study upstairs.
Timothy had already made several trips hack and forth, either delivering documents or bringing urgent papers for Xavier to sign. His stubbornness had everyone scrambling to accommodate his demands,
Lily decided to try talking things through with him. She stood up and made her way upstairs, but as soon as she reached the corner, a bodyguard blocked her path
“Mrs. Fulton, Mr. Fulton is busy y with work.”
“I need to see him,” Lily said, brushing aside the bodyguard’s hand.
The bodyguard extended his arm again, blocking her way. “If you have something to say, you can tell us, and we’ll pass it along.”
Clearly, Xavier had anticipated her persistence and taken precautions to stop her from disturbing him.
Lily snapped, “Are you sure about that?”
“Certain.” The bodyguard nodded, his expression firm.
“Then tell him this for me. I like him and miss him,” Lily said, folding her arms and forcing a sarcastic smile. “And make sure you say it softly, with smile for him.”
The bodyguard froze, unsure how to respond.
Not everything could be delegated. When it came to love and emotions, no amount of soft tones or cheerful smiles could convey the nuances of their relationship
“Mrs. Fulton, please don’t make things difficult for us.”
y words–how
Lily’s sharp eyes locked onto him. “111 asked you to kiss him on my behalf, that would be making things difficult. But simply relaying my is that such a problem? Didn’t you say you could pass on the message?”
The bodyguard broke into a cold sweat. “Mr. Fulton probably wouldn’t agree to us relaying that.”
“Then why won’t you let me go up myself?” Lily’s patience was wearing thin as she once again tried to push the bodyguard’s arm aside.
Despite her reasoning, the bodyguards remained unmoved. Two of them stood firmly at the base of the stairs, blocking her path.
They didn’t speak, but their wary expressions made it clear they saw her as a threat
Ultimately, Lily realized she couldn’t get past them. With a frustrated sigh, she retreated to the living room and sank onto the sofa.
Even though she couldn’t see Xavier face–to–face, communication wasn’t completely out of reach.
She sent him a WhatsApp message. “The company won’t allow me to work remotely. If I take more leave, I’ll be fired.”
It was rare to see Xavier take time out of his busy schedule just to make her life harder.
“That’s not my problem.”
