Since Lily had started causing trouble again, Xavier hadn’t allowed Emma to come over. The entire situation would be exposed if Emma discovered that Lily no longer lived there. 

“I don’t care where she is. What matters is that I shouldn’t be here!” Lily stood up, brushing off her pants. “I’m leaving now.” 

“Where are you going?” Xavier sat down on the sofa, crossing his legs. He took off his watch and began idly playing with it in his hands. 

Even though Lily stood taller than him while he sat, Xavier still had the upper hand. 

Lily looked down at him, suppressing her anger. “I need to work. I don’t have time to waste with you here. You can stay locked in this house all you want, but I can’t!” 

“I’m covering all the expenses while you’re here,” Xavier replied firmly, holding his ground. “The punishment I gave you is to prevent future problems.” 

Punishment? He had already convinced himself that Lily was behind sending those photos to the media. 

Lily felt a deep, powerless frustration, like punching a cotton ball. “If you want to punish me, you need evidence, right? Show it to me!” 

Xavier placed his watch on the coffee table and said casually, “I don’t waste effort on things I’m not sure about.” He was confident in his judgment. 

“Are you sure you want to keep me locked up like this?” Lily scanned the room before moving toward the corner of the balcony, where a tall flower vase 

stood 

Xavier eyed her coldly. She held the vase at a precarious angle, and it looked like it would fall any second. 

“You’ll regret this.” 

Xavier had bought the vase for seven figures at an auction in another province. To him, it was just a decorative object, nothing more. 

With a loud crash, the vase shattered on the floor. Lily, who had a sense of the value of money, could hardly bear breaking something so expensive, though it wasn’t hers. 

She had no real intention of destroying it, but the vase had a thin layer of dust on the edge, and her hand slipped. 

Xavier’s expression immediately darkened. It wasn’t the money that bothered him. It was Lily’s blatant disrespect. Had she actually dared to break it? 

Lily’s face turned pale, and she instinctively gripped the hem of her clothes. “L…” 

“One million and 200 thousand dollars.” Xavier’s irritation was palpable. “When we divorce, it’ll be clearly stated in the asset division. You’ll pay me.” 

Now she was scared? She had been so bold and confident when she broke it like she wanted to intimidate him. 

Xavier couldn’t help but remember how Lily had always acted cold and distant whenever she saw him. Perhaps, as she did now, she would shift her expression suddenly–full of regret and frustration, 

Let her be. He was curious to see when she’d hit her limit. 

Lily’s expression darkened even further. “I haven’t even asked for your property, and you’re demanding money from me?” 

“You haven’t claimed the joint marital property because you know your place. The money I’m asking for is compensation for the damages you’ve caused during this cooling–off period.”
