Chapter 205 

Xavier stood in the doorway with hands in his pockets. He blocked the entrance without a change in expression. “Grandma, why are you here all of a sudden?” 

“It’s nothing. Can’t I come visit?” Edith immediately sensed that he was reluctant to let her in, but she was determined to enter. “I’m here to see Move aside.” 

Standing by the door, Lily felt her emotions grow more complicated upon hearing Edith’s words.

Had Xavier not told her about their divorce? Why h 

hadn’t he said anything? 

“Move aside!” Edith jabbed Xavier’s leg with her cane. 

He grunted in pain but then turned and walked inside, leading the way. He grabbed Lily and quickly pulled her into the dining room, pressing her against the wall 

“I haven’t told her about the divorce,” he said softly. 

“Why haven’t you told her?” She asked almost simultaneously. 

The scent of his cologne, a mix of nicotine and sandalwood, lingered in the air, and their closeness triggered memories they weren’t ready to confront. His breath brushed against her cheek, making her lashes flutter. 

“Grandma’s health isn’t great, I’m afraid she won’t be able to handle it. And the divorce isn’t final yet. If we tell her now, they’ll interfere for sure.” Xavier raised his hand to her chin, gently guiding her face to meet his gaze. His smile was laced with both mockery and sarcasm. “You probably don’t want anything to mess up the divorce, do you?” 

If the Fulton family found out, there was no telling whether the divorce would actually go through 

“Wait,” she started, suddenly recalling the broken vase. “You can’t make me pay for the vase. Otherwise, I won’t cooperate.” 

Xavier laughed, clearly amused. Her face showed contentment, but her tone was so forceful. He almost wanted to expose how badly she wanted to stay by his side right then. 

“Deal” 

He agreed too quickly, and Lily immediately regretted it. She instinctively grabbed at his shirt. “You can’t restrict my freedom anymore, I need to go to work, I…” 

“Lily? 

Edith bent down slightly, her body pecking from behind the kitchen cabinet 

A smile appeared on her face when she saw Lily with her arms wrapped around Xavier’s waist. “I don’t visit often. You two should tone it down, or my heart might not be able to handle it.” 

She’d never seen Lily and Xavier so playful. Their interactions were more than just politeness and respect.
