Chapter 75
Although Xavier had been unable to hear Terence clearly, he could hear his gentle tone and Lily’s soft replies. It had clearly sounded like they were flirting!
Recently, Lily had been extremely cold and aloof whenever she’d spoken to Xavier.
This made her current attitude even more obvious. She said in a low, angry voice, “Xavier! What nonsense are you saying? Let me go!”
Lily had never imagined that someone would be in the pitch–black room. She struggled, but he held her even more tightly.
“Why are you letting men casually enter your home at night? Have you forgotten that you’re a married woman?” Xavier let go of her waist and grabbed her wrist.
He forced her to turn and face him. Lily was sitting on him, and their bodies were pressed together. His scent was even more intense.
“Terence isn’t as despicable as you are! He’s an upright man!”
“Despicable?” Xavier’s voice was frosty. “I’ll show you what it means to be despicable!”
He held her chin and forced her to look up as he enveloped her lips in an aggressive kiss.
Lily was shocked. She struggled with all her might. “Aren’t you afraid that they’ll hear us?”
Xavier paused and said impassively, “So, Terence is an upright man, but I’m too embarrassing to be seen with?”
What did he have to be afraid of? What he was doing was well within his legal rights.
“Who’s the one who’s embarrassed to be seen in public? I’ve been married to you for two years, but have you ever made my identity known to other people?” Xavier was unmoved by her accusation.
If they’d publicized their marriage two years ago, would things be different for them now? Would she have avoided being deceived by Bobby? Would she still have used divorce to threaten him?
“You should look in the mirror to see if you’re worth that or not!”
Even the darkness couldn’t hide Lily’s humiliation. Her face burned as he trampled her dignity underfoot once more.
She threw everything aside. “Of course I’m not worthy! Not only am I not worthy of being your wife, I’m also not worthy of being a designer! I don’t even deserve to be alive! Why did you even marry me?”
Her voice trembled slightly at the end.
Xavier felt his heart softening slightly, but he soon recovered his rationality.
Why was she sniveling so much with him and saying such harsh things? What about in front of Terence?
Terence? What a total embarrassment!
“Do you think I wanted to marry you?” He let go of her abruptly and stood up to smooth down his pants, which had become creased from her sitting on them. There was contempt in his voice and actions.
The words seemed to stick in Lily’s throat like a lump of cotton. She wept silently.
