“When you and Sarah were stuck at the hip wherever you went, did you even think about the fact that you’re a married man? I almost died in the hospital in that car accident, but you were keeping her company. Don’t you think that was too much? 

“Now you’re letting her live here. Have you ever thought about the fact that this was the house that we were supposed to live in? Every brick and tile in this place was designed by me, but you’re going to destroy it all and redecorate just because she says she doesn’t like it. 

“Not only that, she even wants to pay for it all with your black card. That’s our joint property! Just based on all that, don’t I have the right to say that I want to divorce you?” Lily demanded. Every word she said was filled with bitterness and pain. 

However, Xavier was unmoved, as if all of this was just something that she was supposed to endure as his wife. 

“It’s just a house. Do I need to ask you before I decide what to do with it? After all this fuss, I finally get it. You want to have control and make me report everything to you, don’t you?” Xavier didn’t believe her. She was just using this as an excuse for her ambiguous relationship with Terence! 

She was trying to make herself the victim even though she was in the wrong! Why was she trying to frame him? 

Lily’s lashes fluttered, and she hated herself for always allowing herself to be hurt by him. Since they were at the point of divorce, there would be nothing tying them to each other in future. She shouldn’t continue to be upset. 

However, she wanted to make her stance clear. 

“Xavier, I may come from an ordinary background. Maybe I haven’t earned a single penny for this family for the past two years, but I’ve always put you first in everything, and I’ve never said no to you. 

“It’s because I love you and because you need a wife like that to take care of everything at home, not because I need a man to support me! I was willing to become a housewife for you, but that doesn’t mean this is the only kind of life I’m worthy of having!” 

Lily had daydreamed countless times of coming to this marital home with Xavier. 

They could bask in the sun in the living room and sip on tea. The desk in the study was made for two–she could read beside him while he was working so that she could keep him company. She’d even specially prepared a couch at the foot of their bed in the bedroom. She’d made sure that every aspect was done with her husband in mind. 

However, she’d never imagined that it would all be for nothing. 

This was the first time they’d come to this place, and they were discussing divorce in the home theater, where she’d envisioned having countless surprises on special days. 

The lights in the home theater suddenly flicked on. 

Lily closed her eyes instinctively, and when she opened them again, she saw Sarah entering through another door. 

Sarah walked over, looking very serious. “Xavier, are you… married to Ms. Joyner? When I saw her in your office, I thought she was one of the staff hired by the Fultons. Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” 

“There’s nothing to tell,” Xavier said in a dark voice. 

He hadn’t been moved by Lily’s accusations. After all, there was nothing between him and Sarah at all. 

He’d never known how sharp Lily’s tongue was. He couldn’t believe she’d pulled such an excuse out of nowhere. 

“I’m sorry, Mrs. Fulton. I didn’t know that this was supposed to be your marital home. I’ll move out of here at once later…” Sarah was being so courteous that no one could say a thing against her. 

Lily had nothing to say. She would never have expected Sarah to be so understanding and magnanimous in front of Xavier when she was arrogant and provocative with Lily. 

“You don’t need to do that.” Since Lily was determined to get a divorce, Xavier’s temper had flared up.
