Chapter 80 

Lily was determined to see Xavier that day. Timothy didn’t dare to make the decision, so after he hung up, he asked Xavier for guidance. 

Xavier was in a meeting, and he was at the head of the table in the large conference room. He was dressed in a dapper suit, and there was a serious look on his handsome features. 

His brow furrowed deeply when he heard what Timothy had to say. “Let her come up and wait here. It just so happens that I have a bone to pick with her!” 

Ten minutes after that, Lily appeared in Xavier’s office. She didn’t know if Xavier was dragging the time out on purpose or if he really was busy. She stood ramrod straight in front of the desk, holding the divorce agreement tightly. 

When Xavier got back from his meeting, he saw her standing there. She was standing very straight, and her black hair cascaded down to her waist. 

When she heard the door opening, she turned back. When their eyes met, she pressed her lips together. 

She’d been the one who’d bought the black suit that Xavier was wearing that day. She’d bought it on their first wedding anniversary. 

However, he wasn’t wearing the tie that she’d chosen. It was the tie that Sarah had given him as a birthday present. 

“This is the divorce agreement. Have a look at it, and sign it if there aren’t any problems.” She put the divorce agreement in front of Xavier. 

Xavier sat down and loosened his tie. He was clearly getting ready to have a discussion. 

However, he didn’t look at the divorce agreement. Instead, he pulled out a piece of paper from the drawer on his right and gave it to her. 

It was a resignation letter from Sarah. 

Lily’s heart skipped a beat. Sarah wanted to resign? 

She looked at Xavier in confusion. “What does this mean?” 

“You made her so angry that she decided to leave. You need to take responsibility for that.” Xavier sounded self–righteous. 

“I made her so angry that she left?” Lily laughed out of sheer anger. “Your wife–that’s me–also left because she made me so angry. Why didn’t you make her take responsibility for that?” How could a homewrecker like Sarah be so shameless? 

Lily pointed at the reason for resignation that was written on the paper and said, “Ms. Lynde says here that she decided to resign because things weren’t going well at work. It has nothing to do with me.” 

Xavier raised an eyebrow and ignored what she’d said. 

He looked at the part that Lily was pointing at and said heavily, “She’s the vice president of this company. If she wants to resign, she needs to get the approval of the directors. 

“If she’d said that it was a personal reason, the directors would be sure to keep asking to get to the bottom of it. Are you planning to let her tell everyone that you can’t stand it when there are women around me?” 

Lily was speechless. What did Xavier mean by that? 

There were so many female secretaries in the secretariat department and countless female staff members in the office. Had she ever said anything about that? 

Why did he have to describe the situation that way? 

If she’d to put it plainly, she could not stand letting her husband share a bed with another woman. She couldn’t stand having a mistress in the home that belonged to her. Was she wrong for feeling that way? 

“How do you want me to take responsibility?” She didn’t understand. Did he want her to take Sarah’s place?
