Chapter 82
Xavier inclined his head. “Lily did lose a bit of weight but… it doesn’t affect anything.”
It didn’t affect how he felt. He still felt something stir inside him when he saw her.
Lily heard what he was implying, and the tips of her ears turned pink.
“Eat some more, Edith.” She put some food on Edith’s plate to try and change the subject.
However, Edith refused to do so. “Losing this little bit of weight won’t affect her health, but she can’t keep being so thin. You’re a man. You need to learn how to take care of your wife. Be nicer to her and learn from your father.”
Xavier said meaningfully, “You’re right, Grandma. I should treat her well.”
He put some food on Lily’s plate. Lily didn’t reject it, but she did not eat it either. By the time dinner ended, the food he’d put on her plate remained untouched.
“Why don’t the two of you stay the night? Your parents aren’t coming home, and I’m the only one left.” Edith refused to let them leave after dinner.
“Alright, I’ll stay with you,” Xavier answered readily.
Lily had been planning to return to Bayview Gardens, but Xavier had agreed so quickly.
Edith’s eyes crinkled into a delighted smile. Although it was getting late, she dragged Lily to the greenhouse to check the flowers.
By the time they were done fussing over it, it was already 10:00 pm.
Lily walked Edith back to her room, but the latter urged her to leave. “It’s getting late. Don’t keep Xavier waiting and go to bed.”
Lily had worked up a sweat in the climate–controlled greenhouse, where she’d been pruning the flowers, watering them, and adding fertilizer. Her clothes were in their bedroom, so she had no choice but to go up.
When she pushed the door open, she saw that it was pitch black inside. Seeing that Xavier wasn’t around, she relaxed slightly.
She found her way to the closet in the dark and turned on the lights before she turned around.
All of a sudden, she spotted Xavier in a bathrobe, standing in the middle of the room. “W–Why didn’t you turn on the lights?”
Xavier stood there calmly. “This is my room.” He didn’t have to turn on the lights if he didn’t want to.
His bathrobe was loose, revealing his chest, which was tanned to a bronze color. His abs were faintly visible, making him look extremely tempting.
Lily’s eyes appeared cool and relaxed, but there was a slight quiver of emotion in them.
She lowered her eyes and said, “I need to get my pajamas.”
“Go ahead.” Xavier took out some black, silk casual loungewear from the wardrobe.
Ignoring the fact that Lily was around, he took off his bathrobe.
Lily had just crouched down in front of the cupboard next to him and was rummaging in the drawers for her underwear.
She spotted something she shouldn’t have, and she stopped breathing. The tips of her ears burned at once.
He was the one who was naked, but she was the one who’d turned bright red.
He put on his underwear and clothes casually and looked down at her. “Have you seen enough?”
