Chapter 83 

For the past two years, Xavier had never asked Lily for her opinion. This was the first time, and there was an earnest look in his eyes. Lily’s eyes flickered, and she could hear the wild thumping of her heart. 

She said nothing, which Xavier took to mean acquiescence. After all, she couldn’t resist it when he whispered sweet nothings in her ear. 

He would occasionally tease her when they were in bed together. All it took were a few sweet words for her to melt and become like water. It was still the same now. 

There was mirth in his eyes as his lips peppered her beautiful eyes with kisses. 

They were light, gentle kisses, while his breath was burning hot. 

Lily lowered her eyes, and her gaze alighted on his sexy Adam’s apple and collarbone. She pressed her lips together, and just as he was about to cover her lips with his, she spoke up. “Xavier, you just want to sleep with me, don’t you?” 

She had finally admitted it. The truth was that Xavier didn’t love her. 

She suddenly felt as if she could see very clearly that Xavier was only being like this for sex. There were no feelings involved at all. 

He wasn’t using his heart, and he was just thinking with the lower half of his body. 

“Will you give it to me?” Xavier wasn’t angry about his motive being revealed. 

He didn’t think that it was particularly terrible of him to want to sleep with her. They were a lawfully wedded couple, after all. 

She could divorce him if she wanted to, but he still wanted the physical aspect of their relationship. He couldn’t let himself go without it. He’d never bothered to hide his physical attraction to her. 

She should feel lucky. If it hadn’t been for that attraction, he wouldn’t have bothered being with her for so long. 

“I don’t want to,” Lily answered simply. “If you try to force yourself on me, I refu-” 

She couldn’t refuse. She was much less strong compared to him. If he insisted on it, there was nothing she could do. 

She’d spoken so directly, but Xavier didn’t want her to. He bent down and stopped her lips with his own. 

When had those red lips of hers become so aggressive? If he wanted it, she should give it to him. What loss was it to her? 

Xavier had no problems immersing himself in the act of sleeping together, completely ignoring the fact that they were in the midst of discussing divorce. 

Perhaps he hadn’t wanted to hear what she’d just said. 

He asked, “Don’t you like it?” 

“No.” Lily was determined not to make him too happy. 

She was being too uncooperative. Xavier had been in the mood to toy with her, but he was rapidly losing his patience. 

The lights in the room were dimmed, and his features were in the darkness. His eagle–like eyes gradually grew sharp and clear. 

The woman underneath him had beautiful features, but there was a cold, impassive look in her eyes. 

He couldn’t even find any trace of the way she used to look at him in her expression. In the past, she’d been like a seductive kitten. What had happened?
