Chapter 117 Calculated Moves
Finished
The bodyguard, believing he had diligently fulfilled his duties without fault so far, whispered, “Sir, you.
Before he could finish, he heard Easton command, “Send a female bodyguard over.”
“Right away!”
The bodyguard immediately made a call to find a female colleague to take over the shift. After issuing the order, Easton turned back to glance at the closed door of the room.
What is Ellis doing inside right after I left! Where were those rustling sounds coming from?
But the source of the noises wasn’t his concern; it was the unrelenting agitation he couldn’t vent.
Just moments ago, he was certain that Ellis ignoring him fueled an uncontrollable irritation throughout his body. The more she ignored him, the more he wanted to find a way to make her pay attention.
It used to be Ellis begging for my attention. When did the tables turn, and I became the one craving her attention? It’s absurd and completely unreasonable. Doesn’t Ellis understand her situation?
After Easton forcibly took Ellis away, Carly was worried but knew Easton was not someone to provoke lightly. Going to him directly might only make things worse for Ellis.
Carly tried to get her father to rescue Ellis from Easton’s clutches, but he was unwilling to help.
Over a restless night, as Carly hesitated whether to contact Sophia, Maya called her.
Maya was Ellis’s best friend. She answered politely, “Ms. Maya.”
“Ms. Carly, I can’t reach Ellis. Have you been able to contact her?”
Best friends normally talk every day, chatting casually and about serious matters alike. Maya had sent a WhatsApp message to Ellis yesterday, and after half a day without a reply, her voice messages also went unanswered. Maya sensed something was amiss.
“Ellis, she…” Should family matters be kept private? Carly pondered for a moment then continued, “She was taken away by Easton from where I live last night.”
Let it out; after investigating, Carly found that Ellis had drafted a divorce agreement with Maya’s help. She figured Ellis hadn’t kept Maya in the dark, so there was no farm in telling her about last night.
“Easton took Ellis?” Maya’s volume spiked. “Where did he take her?”
“Ellis told me that Easton plans to confine her.”
Maya was stunned.
“I’m trying to find a way to rescue Ellis; don’t worry. The line went silent; Carly thought Maya was probably worried, “The chances of Easton harming Ellis are not high.”
“Ms. Carly, I don’t mean to speak ill of Easton, but with what he’s done to Ellis, it’s clear he’s our to get her. You say he’s not likely to harm her; how can I believe that?”
As she spoke, Maya asked, “Ms. Carly, do you know what Easton has done to Ellis?”
“Should we call the police and ask them to accompany us?”
