Chapter 118 Tension at Hudson Group
#Finished
After reaching a consensus, Carly and Maya quickly headed out to the headquarters of the Hudson Group.
Having been startled by that scumbag in the middle of the night, Ellis was physically drained and mentally strained, leading her to sleep so deeply the next day that she was practically in a coma. The butler, following Easton’s orders for the first time, was scheduled to deliver essentials to her, but no matter how much he knocked, Ellis didn’t answer the door, and he even discovered it couldn’t be opened from the outside.
By the afternoon, Ellis still hadn’t opened the door, and there was no sign of movement. The butler was becoming increasingly anxious, fearing something dire might have happened to her or that she might have been considering something drastic. He hurriedly reported the situation to Easton over the phone.
When Easton received the call, his cold gaze swept over the two women in front of him.
Carly and Maya looked at him with a mix of righteousness and indignation, trying to reason with him and appeal to his emotions to convince him to release Ellis.
“It’s just past two in the afternoon; if she’s not making any noise, she’s probably just sleeping. Don’t knock anymore or call someone to pick the lock. Let her sleep it off; she’ll get up when she’s ready.”
With that, Easton ended the call abruptly. He didn’t dare say more, but he knew Ellis’s physical and mental state well enough.
Originally,
ally, they had been speaking politely with Easton, but Maya’s expression changed after hearing his conversation on the phone, “Mr. Hudson, aren’t you worried about Ellis…?”
Currently, it was unclear whether Easton had been overly aggressive toward Ellis or if she had been harmed in any way. Seeing how casually Easton instructed the person on the other end of the phone, Maya felt a -surge of anger on Ellis’s behalf.
“Worried about what?” Easton slowly set his phone down, meeting Maya’s gaze directly. “Does Ms. Maya not understand her place? Ellis is my wife; you’re just a friend. My relationship with her is much closer than yours. Don’t make unnecessary assumptions about things I’m not worried about.”
“I’m Ellis’s attorney, and she…”
“Enough!” Easton glanced toward the door. “I let you in here not to listen to pointless chatter but to tell you one last time. If you meddle in my and Ellis’s affairs again, you’ll pay a severe price.”
As someone who had already paid such a price, Carly’s expression tightened. “Easton, if you won’t release Ellis, at least let her check in with me to confirm she’s safe.
Maya was taken aback. “Ms. Carly, you’re lowering your demands? Just making sure she’s alive is enough?”
“When I have time, I’ll have her call you.”
This time, Easton’s gaze didn’t wander toward the door. Carly understood the hidden meaning in his words and led Maya out.
Leaving without achieving their goal wasn’t their style. As they stepped out of the Hudson Group building. Maya expressed her mild reproach. “Ms. Carly. Easton is confining Ellis, and we don’t even know if he’s hit her or mistreated her. You’re only asking for her to be alive; how much suffering and heartach must she
“We’ll play it by ear.” Carly made no promises to Maya, as both their lives were controlled by Easton. To avoid backlash, she said, “Don’t be too impulsive or worried; follow my lead.”
What those two did after disappearing and whether they followed his instructions didn’t concern Easton.
Handling two disobedient ants was easy for him, no need to stress.
It was after six. Has Ellis gotten up? What is she doing? With her confined to the room, has the lashed out at the butler, the maids, or the bodyguards?
Thinking this, Easton couldn’t settle down to continue working and decided to leave work early.
Having driven for Easton for years, the chauffeur was used to not driving himself. As he took Easton away from the office at night, he habitually headed toward Azure Estate, where Easton had lived for the past three years and which had been his and Ellis’s marital home.
After Ellis moved out, Easton still resided there.
“Head to Dynasty Estate.”
Not far into the drive, Easton’s cool voice suddenly directed from the back seat. For a moment, the driver didn’t realize where Dynasty Estate was.
The next moment, it clicked; he had been there yesterday, also visiting a hospital and a manor. With those scenes flashing through his mind, the driver didn’t foolishly ask why; he simply accepted that Easton would now be staying at Dynasty Estate.
“Yes, Mr. Hudson.”
Checking the traffic, the driver adjusted the car’s direction. Besides being slightly obsessive–compulsive, Easton disliked changing his residence without good reason.
