Chapter 119 Out of the Cage

Finished

Last night, he was in a new environment and didn’t sleep a wink, but today he’s in high spirits. He feels an inexplicable urge to see Ellis, boxed in like a canary, with no way to spread her wings and fly beyond his

control

What does it feel like to be imprisoned? Ellis could only describe it as incredibly boring. She wasn’t short on food or drink, thanks to Easton, and had personal attendants while staying in a luxurious villa with a superior environment. The only real issue, and a frustrating one at that, was her complete isolation from the outside world, it felt like living on a deserted island.

Two bodyguards were always stationed by the door, preventing her from leaving through the front. Thus, upon waking, she spent her time pacing the room, plotting her escape.

After much consideration, Ellis’s gaze fixed on the window.

To escape this house, don’t I first have to leave this room? Are there pipes or something I could climb down to the first floor?

After a careful examination, she fortuitously found a risky shortcut down. But when personal freedom is lost, why worry too much about the dangers?

Just as she was about to make her move, she spotted the gardener and a cleaning lady working together in the garden, chatting and laughing, which made her pause her escape plans.

With people around, any attempt to climb down would surely end with her being caught and brought back.

Why waste the effort? She decided to wait until dark.

Escaping would require energy. As night fell, Ellis promptly had the butler bring in her favorite food.

After eating her fill, she casually asked the butler for some cash. It wasn’t clear why Ellis would need cash here, but out of duty, the butler asked with a smile, “Mrs. Hudson, how much would you like?”

Considering modern transportation isn’t by foot, Ellis didn’t want to be caught just after escaping. She planned to hail a cab as soon as she stepped out of Dynasty Estate, which would incur a cost.

Having no money of her own, she tried her luck with the butler. Upon hearing his response, her eyes lit up. “A few hundred? Would that be okay?”

Without a word, the butler handed her a stack of cash.

“Mrs. Hudson, here is 1400 dollars.”

“Thank you!”

She pretended to put away the cash nonchalantly and signaled the butler to leave. As soon as he was out of the room, she sprang into action.

The third floor wasn’t particularly high, but fearing injury, she wanted some protection. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much in her room to use as protection. Finally, she gathered her courage, decided against any protective measures, and barehandedly climbed over the balcony railing, then carefully made her way

down.

Meanwhile, a Rolls Royce had just parked in the front yard.

The driver, concerned about any mistakes he might have made during the drive, also instinctively scanned the surroundings, trying to discern what caught Easton’s attention.

Then he saw it, his heart leaping to his throat. A girl with long curly hair was scaling down the wall of the second–floor window, without any protective gear, and below her was the unforgiving concrete.

Seeing this, the driver didn’t dare make a sound, his body stiff with fear, worried that any noise might startle Ellis, which would be a grave mistake.
