CHAPTER 88

ONE DIRECTION

LINDY’S POV

Martha rushes to my side, “What are you standing there? C’mon and join me!”

I smile as I let her drag me back to the crowd where we joined the rest of the students who were all admiring One Direction singing on stage. The spotlight were One Direction won the stage and all students had their phones out ready to film them sing.

The song started right away on Liam’s cue as the piano begin to play the intro for Night Changes.

“Going out tonight…” Zayn’s angelic voice fills the entire ballroom and how it gives me goosebumps hearing it. “Changes into something red, her mother doesn’t like that kinda dress. Everyhing she’s never had, she’s showing off.”

“Driving too fast moon is breaking through her hair.” Liam smiles at the crowd. “She’s heading for something that she won’t forget. Having no regrets is all that she really wants.”

“We’re only getting older baby.” Zayn sings Harry’s part instead and he’s literally killing the lyrics in his Zorro costume. “And I’ve been thinking about it lately, does it ever drive you crazy just how fast the night changes?”

“Everything that you ever dreamed of.” Liam continues the rest of the chorus which made the entire crowd intensely quiet. “Disappearing when you wake up, but there’s nothing to be afraid of even when the night changes, it will never change me and you.”

My heart was pouding as soon as drums started playing in the background and for some reason, I don’t know why I was getting nervous. My eyes caught glimpse of the student in a prince attire but with the massive Beast headpiece over his head as he dance alone along to the song in the corner. He seemed to be having fun even if he was alone and I cannot believe he is able to breathe in that thing.

“Chasing her tonight, doubts are running ‘round her head.” Louis’ sweet voice makes me smile as he stares at me dearly. “He’s waiting, hides behind the cigarette, heart is beating loud but she doesn’t want it to stop.”

Niall glued his eyes on Martha and this lad is literally head over heels for my own best friend and so is she towards him. “Moving too fast moon is lighting up her skin.” He smiles at her as she stares at me the moment I nudged her side.

My own best friend is really in love.

“She’s falling, doesnt even know it. Having no regrets is all that she really wants.”

The four of them started singing the chorus with wonderful voices in different tone and it sounded well blended as they sing in unison. They really harmonized well and it made a few girls in the audience sing along with them too. “We’re only getting older baby and I’ve been thinking about it lately, does it ever drive you crazy just how fast the night changes. Everything that you ever dreamed of is disappearing when you wake up, but there’s nothing to be afraid of even when the night changes, it will never change me and you.”

Liam releases a soft and long ooh which sounded so soothing before Zayn sings again which made the entire audience terribly silent, “Going out tonight, changes into something red her mother doesnt like that kinda dress. Reminds her of the missing piece of innocence she lost.”

As they continued singing the chorus again, out in a spur of moment the student with the Beast headpiece started coming towards where I was standing with Martha. The other students had to move aside because Paul made sure that there was no commotion in front of the stage. The student under the Beast headpiece just kept dancing in front of me as I hear Louis laughing softly and quickly over the microphone which makes the rest of the lads smile too.

“What the hell is this dude doing?” I asked Martha.

Martha laughs as the boy with the Beast headpiece is getting everyone’s attention attention because he was literally dancing in front of me, facing my direction. He takes my hand to his and I was just laughing getting all weirded.

“It will never change baby.” My eyes quickly scanned the entire place as soon as the voice sounded familiar.

“It will never change baby.”

It was Harry.

“It will never change me and you.”

It has got to be Harry. I know that raspy voice and I know it was him.

The song ends and the entire ballroom was silent since I felt everyone was looking me as I stand in the middle of the dancefloor. My attention focused on the tall student who is standing still in front of me and I don’t know why he is here. My eyes scanned his entire clothes, he wore a ravishing classic prince attire and brown boots on his feet but the headpiece was too big that it caught everyone’s attention.

“Who are you?” I asked.

“Why don’t you take off the headpiece to see?” Liam tells me over the mic.

“I mean, he has been dancing to the song the entire time.” Louis says while smiling.

I look back at the student under the headpiece.

“Take it off!” Louis chants repetitively which were then joined by the others lads then by the entire students who were here. The chant continued and it was making me curious and nervous at the same time since this student suddenly came up to me out of nowhere.

I held onto the headpiece with both hands and started pulling it off from this man’s head. I slowly and carefully pulled it out from him and since he was too tall, he had to bend down a little bit to adjust to my height and as soon as I successfully grabbed it.

Everyone gasped as soon as the headpiece was off and I was tremendously in shock to see Harry Styles standing in front of me fixing his long hair and the head mic that he has on him.

He was standing right in front of me with a smile on his face as soon as he stared into my eyes.

“Surprise!!” The lads said happily in unison as they continued cheering.

I clipped my jaws together as my eyes were still dilated in shock to seeing him here.

I turn to Martha who is now smiling at me evilly. She was behind this, for sure. I mean, how would Harry dress up as Beast if she didn’t tell him that I was going to dress up as Belle.

I turn to Harry and his emerald eyes, “What are you…” I trailed off as I ran out of words. I glance at his hand which was holding my hand and he is real. “What are you doing here?”

“I wanted to surprise you and…made the trip as soon as I had a free schedule.” He answers as it echoes throughout the entire room. “I was not able to come here for your graduation and I felt bad that I wasn’t able to come.”

“You didn’t have to surprise me this grandly.” I answer him. “I mean not in front of the entire school and the faculty.”

“I wanted to show those people who bullied you and made fun of you why they will never ever be better than you because you’re already the best.” He smiles that playful dimpled smile I have been missing and I have always loved.

“I still love you Lindy.”

I can hear the other students beginning to murmur as they were staring at us.

Harry continues, “And I no longer want to date you in secret because I want to tell the entire world that I am in love with you and only you. I am so fucking proud of you and I don’t want to lie anymore about us.”

I shyly bite my inner cheek before asking, "Did you really think that you could just come here unexpectedly, serenade me and use the lads and my own best friend for this suprise and then everything will be fine again between you and me?"

His eyes looks over to the lads who shrugged their shoulders at my best friend who looked guilty before he stares back at me. “Yes?” He sounded doubtful as he looks at me. “I thought it was romantic to..." He stuttered and scratched his head.

I was silent as he shockingly faced the entire crowd, “I was the one who was wrong in this relationship. I was the one who did not fight for it while all these times she was holding onto it for us. I let go and I let her down when I denied her and what I feel for her. And I felt terribly awful when she left my life.”

He exhales heavily before looking back at me, “I’m not afraid anymore Lindy.”

I smile weakly.

“I want to show the whole world the only hand I want to hold onto for the rest of my days. And it’s yours.” He pulled my hand up, showing it to everyone. “There was never a day that I didn’t think about you even after we broke up. I know you miss me too and I believe that we still have one last chance for this to work out.”

My heart was literally beating ridiculously fast inside my chest. “Please, be mine again? I promise I won’t fuck up this time.”

“Forgive and get back with the guy already!” Louis calls out.

I smile shyly as I turn back to Harry who looked determined and serious before my lips widens as I nod at him. He gapes, “Y-You’re forgiving me?” He asks happily.

I nod vigorously, “Yes Harry.” He pulled me close to his chest as he wraps his long arms around my slim body. I hear the students were cheering and the lads were making loud noises too as they tease us. He pulled his head away after hugging me tightly and he smiles over me before he plants a kiss over my forehead.

“I still love you curly.” I say to him with a happy smile on my face as I feel my tears filling my eyelids. My heart was super happy that I cannot explain how it feels right now.

“I love you, now and always.” He hugs me again and it felt nice to be held like this.

I missed him and I don’t want to let go of him ever again.

He faces the crowd and I did too but I was shocked when he said, “Lindsay Suzanne Swanepoel. Enlisted and joined Yale’s Honors’ Program.” He stares at me with love and pride in his eyes as I stand here shyly. “Yale University, taking up Pre-Law.”

I smily at him sheepishly as Louis begins to cheer so loud which was followed by the others who were here. When my moment with Harry finished, he went up on stage and joined the other lads while they began to sing their last song for the night, Steal My Girl which sounded perfect as the girls sang along while I enjoyed the whole night in the audience with Martha.

Avery was pissed the entire time she saw the whole thing and left the venue angrily. She didn’t matter anymore because she had always been so selfish all this time and I am glad that she knows why she can never take Harry from me or any of this. I am glad that she now realizes that I have always been the better twin in terms of academic and attitude.

I danced with Harry in the middle of the dancefloor as we swayed to Will Post’s song which was Wonderlust and I didn’t want to let go of this man standing right in front of me. His hands and arms wrapped my body and I loved how he held me close to his body while we were slow dancing with the other students in here. It felt like time was ours for this night as I dance with him and I can feel as much I love this man and how much he loves me to no end. Smiles creeping on face as we stare at each other intently falling more in love with each other because of the music.
