"Well that's not very fair," she said.

"But he felt it too! At least I'm pretty sure he did," I continued. "I know it doesn't make any sense, but I'm serious. If I had a heartbeat, it would've started going faster, and not in a mushy-shushy-love-at-first-sight kind of way. In a I-want-to-rip-your-throat-out kind of way."

Marcella looked thoughtful for a moment. "Well...that is pretty strange," she admitted. "And I don't see how you could possibly know that he felt it too..."

"I don't," I conceded. "But I just...I just have a feeling, you know?"

Cella made a face. "This is giving me a headache. Let's talk about something else. What was that news you wanted to tell me about earlier?"

I perked up with excitement. "Oh, yeah, I almost forgot about the wolves!"

Cella freaked out about the werewolf thing, just as I thought she would. I couldn't tell if she was excited or worried, but it seemed to be a mixture of both at the moment.

"That's so cool!"

"What if there are wolves at school?"

"Do you think they'll hurt anyone?"

"Oh god, what if Cedric meets one? He'll go berserk!"

"I wanna meet one!"

"Or wait, maybe I don't."

"Hey, they can't be worse than you, right?"

We didn't actually begin working on the project until about seven or so, because we spent too many hours coming up with scenarios that almost all revolved around Cedric meeting a werewolf. It was a good laugh, but we wasted a lot of time.

The project was pretty easy, though. We finished the planning in thirty minutes and managed to start on the play itself. When we were about a quarter of the way through, we called it a night. Cella's mom invited me to stay for dinner, and as usual I thought of an excuse as to why I couldn't. I'd become rather good at lying over the years-you had to when you were hiding a secret so large.

Once again, I'd left my car at school, so I had to walk home. It was nearly nine, but it wasn't like I was scared of the dark or anything. That would be hilariously ironic.

My father gave me a dry look and I shrugged in defeat. "Since you were listening, I suppose you know about the meeting?" My father asked while heading to the fridge. He poured a glass and handed it to me. "No more going days without feeding for you."

I took the glass gratefully and said, "I didn't hear much. Just that there's a meeting with the lycanthropes and that the three of us are attending," I smirked at Cedric, "Oh, and that lil' wolf slayer over here's gotta stay in line."

My father chuckled softly at that, while Cedric narrowed his eyes in a glare. Cedric and I shared a few traits, but a sense of humor was not one of them. "The meeting will take place this Saturday. I expect you'll be civil?"

"Of course, father."

"What are you drawing?"

I looked up, irritated, at the sound of Mason's voice. He must've known how much his very presence annoyed me, and was probably drawing satisfaction from the glare I was giving him. Prick.

"A picture," I said shortly. I looked back down at the sketch I was working on. I had a tendency to draw without thinking, and half of the time wouldn't know what I was drawing until I actually focused on it. I let my hands do what they wanted and took in the product when it was finished.

On the page in front of me was an illustration of a full moon at night, its image only disrupted by a few wispy dark clouds here or there. Why I was drawing that, I had no idea, but it looked nice.
