Maggie paused for a few seconds before looking up at him.

Lucas still hadn’t gotten rid of his childishness. The young man blushed awkwardly–a stark contrast to his case on the phone.

Vanessa turned towards Joseph, teasing, “Wonder what he gave her? But speaking of which, why didn’t you receive any gifts? Did you used to bully Lucas?”

Maggie’s eyes flashed coldly at the remark, her gaze briefly sweeping over Vanessa.

This instigator seemed to bring trouble everywhere she went.

Was Vanessa’s evil doings in her past life even comparable to what the Camerons had done? Perhaps not.

As she finished, Madam Cameron’s expression softened slightly. The next second, Maggie turned to Vanessa saying. “But then again, Joseph and mom weren’t in a hurry, Vanessa; you seem quite concerned.”

The implication was clear. You had crossed the line as a girlfriend.

Vanessa’s face soured immediately. She reasoned, “I didn’t mean it that way; I was just making a joke.”

However, her words were still a slap in Vanessa’s face.

This remark left Vanessa trembling with anger, 

Was it just because Lucas was kind to her that Vanessa wanted to put her in his place? As if she had the right!

Before Vanessa could speak again, Ronald and the others descended from upstairs.

“Maggie, you have make it home? I hope you’ve caught up with Lucas. Joseph and Vanessa are also back from abroad. Let’s all sit down today and talk about the future of our jewelry line.”

He continued, “Maggie, you didn’t disappoint this time. Successfully signing a contract with Mr. Lewis ensures a steady supply of gems for our jewelry, and now we just wait for the delivery from his end.

Vanessa quickly interjected. “Uncle Ronald, we’re well aware of the importance of designers. That’s why Joseph and I have been in constant communication with a famous domestic jewelry designer. His fame may not match those international names, but he’s certainly more attuned to what we needed.

Ronald nodded and was prompted again, “Which designer are you in contact with? Are you confident?”

“We plan to hire Andy Farrow, who has been invited to international jewelry exhibitions multiple times and has won numerous awards both domestically and internationally. He should give us his answer by tomorrow night at the latest,” Joseph said firmly.

Hearing this, Maggie’s heart sank a little.

As a jewelry designer, she didn’t just know him; she knew him too well.

Maggie and Andy had crossed paths several times at competitions, both nationally and internationally. Of course, he was mostly defeated at her hands, which led him to pester her incessantly, always eager for face–to–face exchange.

She didn’t have time for that, so she completely ignored him out of fear of having her identity revealed.

Over time, Andy came to view her as a thorn in his side, constantly picking fights and throwing sarcastic remarks her way.

Setting that aside, Andy was indeed a designer with vision.

Despite her disapproval of his antics, Maggie admired his work. Not only that, but she knew in her previous life that once Andy joined another company, he designed many popular pieces.

Maggie’s eyes turned icy. There was no denying that the Camerons were in luck.

She had anticipated that Joseph would look for a new candidate to fill the gap, but she never expected him to stumble upon Andy.

Yet if she were to bring down Luster Corporation, she could not allow Joseph to sign Andy, not by any

means.
