“Don’t get ahead of yourself, Amethyst. Neither Ethan nor Mackenzie are easy 

targets now.” 

Ash gritted his teeth. “We seriously underestimated Emmanuel. Where on 

earth did he find so many skilled warriors?” 

Aora, who prided himself on being undefeated in countless battles, had to 

admit that with Emmanuel and Chester guarding Ethan, and Rhett and 

Quintus protecting Mackenzie, taking down even one side would be nearly 

impossible, let alone both at the same time. 

“Aora, what now?” Azure couldn’t help but ask. 

The four envoys had worked for Teddy for a long time, always handling 

missions solo. It was rare for all four of them to be deployed together, and yet 

here they were, facing opponents they couldn’t defeat. This was a first. 

“Don’t panic,” Aora said coldly.

“Our mission is to disrupt Mackenzie’s efforts to gain control over the West 

End’s business forces. There are plenty of ways to achieve that. If all else fails, 

we’ll just kill her.” 

“But Aora, Emmanuel is in the West End too. If we kill Mackenzie, he’ll go 

berserk and lock down the whole region! 

Azure’s fear was evident. “His Wolf Warrior Unit is no joke. Even the Silver Fox 

Military fell in line under his command.” 

“What’s there to be scared of?” 

Aora glared at him viciously. “Stop inflating their reputation and shrinking 

ours! Emmanuel has the Wolf Warrior Unit, but can’t we ally with the Five 

Poison Sect? They’ve got tens of thousands of followers in the West End!” 

“Really? Aora, can you get them to work with us?” Amethyst’s eyes lit up with 

excitement. 

All three knew that Aora had once been the top enforcer of the Five Poison

Sect, but he left the cult for unknown reasons, striking out on his own before 

eventually swearing loyalty to Teddy Tanner. 

In other words, he had cut ties with the cult long ago. 

Aora said, “I’ll give it a try. Some people in the Five Poison Sect still owe me 

favors. Plus, we share a common enemy, so we can join forces.” 

“That’s great! Aora, we’re counting on you for this mission!” Amethyst said 

excitedly. 

Aora nodded. “I’ll head to the Five Poison Sect now. The three of you: one 

stays behind to monitor Ethan, one keeps an eye on Mackenzie, and one 

comes with me to the Five Poison Sect.” 

“Yes, Aora!” they replied in unison. 

Aora clenched his fist confidently. “Ethan, as the Prime Minister, has his hands full with national affairs. He won’t stay in the West End for long. In a week, he’ll 

have to return to Zovince. When Emmanuel leaves with him, it’ll be a breeze

to wipe out Mackenzie’s entire team!” 

The other three gave him a thumbs–up “Brilliant, Aora!” 

Meanwhile, Ethan faced major issues managing the disaster relief. The 

once–calm rivers were raging again, and many of the temporary structures 

built earlier had been destroyed by the flooding. 

“Mr. Hale, there’s trouble! The dam upstream has collapsed, and massive 

floods are rushing down. If we don’t act quickly, half of Riverhaven could be 

underwater!” 

Someone hurried to report to Ethan. 

Emmanuel, standing next to Ethan, could see the weariness in his eyes. He 

was old, and his body wasn’t holding up well. He coughed violently. 

“Mr. Hale, take your medicine!” Chester, ever by his side, quickly handed him 

the special medication. 

Without waiting for the medicine to take effect, Ethan declared, “We need to

move upstream to tackle the crisis!”

His subordinates pleaded with him to reconsider, but Ethan had already 

made up his mind. The group quickly drove along the flooded roads toward 

the upstream disaster site. 

When they arrived, they were greeted by a scene of devastation–raging 

torrents, as if hell itself had broken loose. 

The surrounding area had been completely destroyed and flooded, with 

what used to be farmland now submerged under water. All that was visible 

were the raging river and the looming mountains. 

Helicopters hovered above while a large group of engineers stood on a 

hillside, looking helplessly at the chaos below, unable to come up with any 

solution. 

“Mr. Hale, at this point, we need to abandon the upstream efforts. Please give 

the order for the rescue teams to focus on the mid and downstream areas. 

We can block the river there and protect those regions,” the female assistant

reported to Ethan, summarizing everyone’s suggestions. 

“No!” Ethan shot back immediately without further explanation.

In truth, he could have gone ahead with that plan. After all, when faced with a 

natural disaster of this scale, human strength felt utterly insignificant. He 

understood that there was little they could do to halt the flood.

But doing so would be a cowardly compromise, and it would be grossly 

irresponsible toward the lives and property of the people living upstream. If 

they truly abandoned those areas, tens of thousands could be left homeless 

and without the means to survive. 

“We need to come up with a plan to block the river and reduce the damage!” 

Ethan commanded. 

Yet, the local officials and his subordinates stood in stunned silence. How 

could we possibly stop such a massive flood? 

Emmanuel stood nearby, witnessing the overwhelming situation and, 

understanding the enormity of the task. It seemed almost impossible.

But with Ethan’s command in place, the rescue teams, engineers, and 

military units sent for disaster relief had no choice but to follow orders. 

Helicopters dropped sandbags into the river, but they disappeared instantly, 

swept away as if they were mere grains of sand tossed into the wind. 

The engineers tried using military equipment to drop massive boulders into 

the breach, but those, too, lasted less than a minute before being washed 

away by the relentless current. 

Just as the experts on site had predicted, nothing worked. Every effort failed.
