The next morning, Manuela was carefully applying makeup in the bathroom.
The open door revealed her, with one white leg sticking out, wearing fishnet stockings.
When we first got married, she only liked casual clothes.
She said she hated short skirts and stockings and sky-high heels.
They looked immoral to her.
Now she was wearing sexy fishnet stockings with a blue miniskirt that barely covered her thighs, and ten-centimeter heels, which made her look like she was about to break at the waist as she walked.
She glanced at me, sitting on the sofa, and stared blankly, before letting out a sarcastic laugh. "I'm going to work.”
I said calmly, “Do you remember what tomorrow is?”
Manuela’s hand paused on the doorknob, her face confused.
An expected reaction. I wasn’t angry, just calmly reminded her, "Our sixth wedding anniversary.”
The plane tickets and hotel were booked three months ago.
I love photography and like to record landscapes.
“Okay, you promised. You have to talk to Evan. Help…,” she realized that it was too familiar and laughed awkwardly, "Help those interns, you know, the ones under me. He's so ambitious and hard-working, but I think he’s a little too young to be promoted. Can you talk to Evan and get him to make him the head of the team?"
I looked at her, into her eyes. She avoided my gaze, looking away nervously. I laughed and said, "I was just kidding. I know his qualifications aren't enough. He’ll be lucky to get promoted. Honey, you’re so kind to me. I love you so much."
She cupped my face and tried to kiss me. But at the last moment, she turned her head and kissed me on the cheek.
Then she jumped up and changed clothes excitedly. She went to pack her bags. "I'll take a day off to pack today. We’ll leave tomorrow.”
I took a tissue and slowly wiped the lipstick off my face.
