Chapter 18 

Carissa finally snapped out of it until she heard a familiar voice. 

The psychological shadow of the last narrow escape made her back instantly break out in a cold 

sweat. 

Because of fear, her face also turned extremely pale. 

However, Warren did not notice her strangeness and only felt that Carissa was still angry with her. 

He said to her self–consciously, “I knew I was wrong. I have prepared everything for the wedding and even bought the wedding dress you like. When you come back, let’s get married, okay…” 

Before the words had even finished, Carissa gritted her teeth and forcefully pushed him away, 

raising her hand to give him a hard slap. 

“Warren, I already made it clear to you last time that we broke up. Why are you coming to me again 

acting crazy?” 

She really couldn’t understand what was going on in Warren’s mind. 

He had already obtained a marriage certificate with Madilyn, but now he comes and says he wants 

to marry her again. Could it be that he wants to enjoy the benefits of having two wives? 

Thinking of this, Carissa felt even more disgusted and took a step back with a cold face. 

Warren’s heart ached as he was pierced by the indifference in her eyes. 

His voice was hoarse as he explained, “Carie, can we not break up? I was blind before, allowing Madilyn to hurt you. Now I realize my mistake, and I have already sent her away. Please come back, okay?” 

Carissa frowned in disgust. 

“Since you knew that you had done something wrong, where did you find the audacity to face me What makes you think that, after I had suffered those hurts, I could simply follow you back without any resentment just because of your casual apology?” 

For six years together, Carissa has always been gentle in front of him. 

Warren listened to her words, both spoken and unspoken, with undisguised disgust. For some unknown reason, a sense of grievance inexplicably arose in his heart. 

“Carie, you can’t be so cruel to me. I was also deceived by her. I just wanted to help her. Believe me, I never had any inappropriate contact with her. All those things she made up to deceive you, I really 

‘never touched her…” 

Warren naively believed that Carissa’s unwillingness to forgive him was a misunderstanding, as he

mistakenly thought he had become intimate with Madilyn. 

He was eager to prove his innocence, 

However, Carissa sneered coldly, 

“Just wanted to help her, that’s all? You’ve made too many excuses, haven’t you even deceived yourself? Getting married, taking wedding photos, bringing her to live at home, taking care of her all night long… aren’t these considered excessive contact? Do you have to sleep with her to be considered unfaithful?” 

Carissa’s tone was very calm, as if it was just a casual conversation. 

However, with every word she spoke, Warren’s expression grew darker. 

‘Warren, do you dare to say that you did these things without any selfish motives? Do you dare to say that you have never had feelings for her?” 

Until the last sentence fell, he nervously avoided Carissa’s gaze, opened his mouth but couldn’t utter a word of explanation. 

Because every word Carissa said struck him right in the heart. 

He had to admit that at the moment when Madilyn kissed him, he almost couldn’t restrain himself 

If it weren’t for his peripheral vision, he wouldn’t have seen Carissa standing in the living room.. 

That night, perhaps he really would have been with Madilyn… 

But those were just the most normal physiological reactions in his view. 

Yes, it is a physiological response. 

All men in the world, when embraced, would have the same reaction as him. 

Moreover, he didn’t continue in the end, did he? 

With this in mind, Warren calmed down again. 

“Carie, in the past, I made some mistakes that I deeply regret. But I have always loved you, from beginning to end. Can you give me another chance, so that we can start over?”

Melvin appeared promptly with a cold face, shielding Carissa behind him.

However, Melvin did not back down at all and coldly retorted. 

“As far as I know, Carie is currently single. What kind of boyfriend are you?” 

Upon hearing these words, Warren’s anger grew even stronger. 

He knew Carissa’s personality, and if the relationship wasn’t very close, she wouldn’t easily reveal 

her personal matters. 

He suppressed the anger in his heart and turned his head to question Carissa. 

“What is your relationship with him? You have only been in Dimborough for a few days and you are already so close to another man. Can you justify it to me?” 

However, Carissa’s words kept Warren rooted in place. 

“What identity are you using now to question me? Madilyn’s husband?” 

Warren’s face turned pale instantly. 

He knew that if he didn’t handle this matter well, he would never be able to win back Carissa. 

So he unwillingly glanced at Melvin standing beside Carissa. 

“Carie, wait for me. I will sort out my relationship with Madilyn and come to pick you up to go 

home…” 

After saying that, Warren gritted his teeth and turned away.
