Chapter 123 

Lola was exhausted and didn’t notice Scott’s evasive gaze. 

“Next time, wait inside. It’s hot outside.” Lola turned and walked into the company. 

Scott finally realized that Lola seemed unhappy and had something on her mind. 

“Layla, is there something wrong? If you have any problems, you can tell me. I can help you.” Scott caught up with her. 

Lola gently shook her head with a forced smile. Im fine.” 

For 

some reason, she didn’t want to tell Scott about Dominick. 

Scott thought, ‘Lola has secrets from me.” 

He sensed that Lola had something bothering her, but since she didn’t speak, he couldn’t force her to. 

“Layla, what happened while I was away? Did someone upset you! I’ll give them what for!” 

Scott followed behind Lola, jokingly trying to cheer her up. 

“Scott, you care so much about Layla. I’ve never seen this side of you before. Jenna walked out of the pantry with a cup of coffee, looking poised. 

Scott’s expression became stiff. He put away his smile and spoke indifferently. “Layla is my fiancée. Of course, I have to care for her. 

“Don’t worry, Jenna, my would–be sister–in–law, I will take good care of her in the future, Scott emphasized the word “sister“. 

Jenna sarcastically smiled and said, “Sister–in–law? I am not your sister–in–law.” 

Scott felt awkward being retorted by Jenna as he observed Lola’s reaction. 

Lola seemed lost in her thoughts. He squinted his eyes and coldly stared at Jenna as if warning her. 

“Well, Layla and I will get married sooner or later. You will eventually become my sister–in–law. 

“You are Layla’s sister, and I’m happy to see you return to the Lewis family” Scott’s words were a warning to Jenna not to act rashly. He took credit for her returning to the Lewis family. 

Jenna could sense Scott’s warning and laughed, saying, “But you are not married yet, right? When you get married, I will be your sister. It’s not good for Layla’s reputation if you address me like this now.” 

Realizing it was a false alarm, Scott planned to leave as soon as possible in case any trouble should ensue. 

“Layla, let’s go to your office.” 

Only then did Lola snap out of her thoughts and said. “Okay.” 

Lola was absent–minded the whole time, and Scott wanted to ask but was afraid of provoking her. 

There was a distance between them now, which made him feel sad. 

“Layla, are you having any difficulties at work?” 

Lola gently shook her head, showing a distant smile. “No.” 

She didn’t want to tell him–and Scott couldn’t control his thoughts from running wild. 

“I heard that Dominick hasn’t shown up for over ten days. Did something happen to him?” 

Lola’s expression visibly changed when Dominick was mentioned. “I don’t know.” 

She didn’t want to mention Dominick now, but Scott didn’t know that and assumed her reaction meant she was guilty. 

“So you’re in a bad mood because he has been missing? Was your mood affected when I was away on my business trip?” 

Lola furrowed her brows. “Scott, what are you talking about? Of course not because of that.” 

Lola finally noticed his presence. 

He thought. It’s quite ridiculous. I’ve been away on my business trip for so long. I came back, but my fiancée was lost in thought, completely indifferent to me. But when I mentioned another man, she snapped out of it, and she became excited” 

Scott was not sure if Lola had fallen for him. And he had been deceiving her all the time, which made him feel extremely guilty. 

After all, Dominick was someone who Lola used to love deeply. The more Scott thought about it, the angrier he became, and he couldn’t control himself. 

“Layla, I am your fiancé! I thought I treated you well, with you at the center of everything, but why are you so cold? 

“Do you think I can’t see it through just because I was away for these few days? 

“Your expression has already given you away! You think Dominick is outstanding, and he came for you when you were in danger, so you started to have feelings for him, right?! 

“Don’t forget, you are my fiancée and a member of the Lewis family. You cannot make any mistakes. Have you forgotten how much trouble the message left you in last time?” 

Lola was startled. In her impression, Scott had never been so furious. 

“Scott, I didn’t… 

“You didn’t?” Scott sneered, “Don’t you know that you can’t lie at all? Your expression will give everything away! 

“I’ve been here with you for so long, and you haven’t truly paid attention to me. When I mentioned Dominick, you became alive. So, who is your fiance?!”
