Master (MxB) novel Chapter 15

Hayden's POV

I can't believe he actually accepted me and my lifestyle. I honestly thought I would have to work harder for his acceptance, but it showed me just how special my baby truly is, I thought to myself as I got out the car.

Yes, I can finally call him my baby! The thought made me feel like a giddy schoolboy at times, but I just couldn't help it. I was so happy to finally be able to hold him and kiss him as much as I wanted.

I was a bit worried about today though. I had gotten some news on the boys that had assaulted him as well as his father. The news about the boys should make him feel a lot more relaxed, but the news about his father is what worried me. Apparently the man hadn't been seen for almost a week now and that worried me.

He has always been in the public eye, so why would he suddenly go completely off the grid like that? The last he was spotted, was almost a week ago. He was spotted loading some things in his car early in the morning and that was it, nothing after that.

I looked up at my house as I stood in my driveway. I spotted all the cameras that covered the entire front of my property as well as the gates. There were more on the sides as well as the back of the property, so I was pretty confident that no one would be able to get in without anyone knowing about it.

I smiled as I made my way up the steps to the front door, the thought of cuddling with Corey for the rest of the night making me happy.

As I stepped inside, I didn't see anyone, but I knew the cameras inside were tracking my every movement. So I made my way to the kitchen, which is where I could usually find Corey this time of the day.

I was just about to enter the kitchen when I heard footsteps from behind me. I turned and saw one of my new guards coming towards me. I was still very impressed that someone as small as him could have the resume he had.

"Mr Lawson, could I have a quick word with you?" He asked me when he saw me turned towards him. I didn't like the look of worry on his face, so I nodded.

"Mr Lawson, we believe someone is tampering with the security system. Over the last two days, we have found cameras that have been blacked out with spray paint as well as scuff marks on the back fence. Also, Leonard, one of the guards that patrol the back, was found injured this afternoon." He said all of that in his usual soft, but firm voice.

"Thank you Landon. Please tell Greg that I need to have a meeting with him in about an hour. I need to talk to Corey about something and also inform him about all of this. I refuse to keep him in the dark, especially if it's him that's in danger. He needs to know what's happening because this is his home too." As I finished, I saw a very small smile appear on his mouth, before it quickly disappeared.

I thanked him again and turned back to the kitchen, smiling when I saw my baby sitting by the counter, working on his homework. I don't know why he didn't use my office, or the desk in his room. For some reason he loved doing it here and I had a suspicion it had something to do with his old life. He told me about the woman that helped him when he was still there. I still had to make a plan with her. She protected my baby and I wanted her out of that hell hole.

I silently made my way towards him, till I was standing right behind him. I saw he had his headphones on, which explained why he didn't hear me enter, so I leaned over and kissed his neck softly.

He jerked up in fright, before he whipped around and saw it was me. "Hayden, I didn't know you were home yet!" He exclaimed as he jumped off his stool and into my arms.

This is the part I absolutely loved, coming home to his hugs and his happy smile. No one has ever been this happy to see me when I got home and I loved it. He made me feel special and loved in a way I never felt before.

I squeezed him right before kissing his soft lips and looking down at him. "How was school baby?" I asked him and he smiled wide.

"It was good, even though Tana got into trouble. But it wasn't her fault, I swear. She was just standing up for me, but the principal wouldn't listen to me when I tried to say anything to him. Now she's got detention and she's worried that she will get into trouble with Kendall." He pouted once he was done talking and I couldn't resist planting another kiss on his lips. He was too fucking adorable for his own good.

"Why don't you tell me exactly what happened and maybe I can talk to Kendall and explain it to her." I told him and his eyes lit up.

"It's this one moron that's been harassing her for a while. You know how everyone thinks that the two of us are dating, because neither of us are out at school. Well, he always tries to put me down in front of her to try to prove he is more worthy of her, and usually it doesn't work too well for him. But he tried again today, started going on about how small I am and how he would be able to satisfy her properly." He was giggling by the end and was battling to get the words out, so he took a breath to calm down before he continued.

"She let him get close to her, and he smirked at me, thinking he won, and he bent over to give her a kiss, but she hit him in the face with her head, breaking his nose and grabbed him by his balls and dragged him down the hallway to the principal's office. Unfortunately he is one of the school favorites because he plays sport, so she got detention and he got off." By now he wasn't laughing anymore, but pouting again.

I couldn't help chuckling at his adorableness. "Okay, that seems like a good enough reason. That little fucker had it coming, picking on my sweet boy, so I will call Kendall now. But as soon as that is done, I need to talk to you about some things. Do you want to order food in tonight or do you want to help me cook?" I asked and he shook his head.

"Maybe order in tonight, I have a lot of homework to get through still." He answered and I nodded, before taking out my phone and calling Kendall. I quickly explained the situation to her and she started laughing as I explained to her what had happened. She was proud of her girl and started making plans to reward her for standing up for her best friend, as well as making a trip to the school principal.

I shook my head and I cut the call and laughed. She was a really weird girl, but I could tell she was already head over heels for the feisty Tana.

I called an Italian restaurant, ordered food to be delivered to my house and then cut that call too.

Once I was done with all of that, I turned back to Corey, who had gone back to his work. He was concentrating really hard on writing something and I really didn't want to bother him, but this needed to be done. I refused to keep him in the dark. Too many things went wrong if the one in the most danger was kept in the dark about things.

"Corey, we need to talk baby." I told him and I saw him sit up and turn to face towards me. "I have some news and not all of it is good, but I would rather keep you in the loop than have you putting yourself in danger without realizing it." He looked worried now, but nodded for me to continue.

I took the seat next to him and took his hands in mine to help him keep calm. " First thing is that the boys who assaulted you are to be sentenced next week. You also won't have to actually be there for any of it, because the evidence against them is too much for them to argue against any of it." He almost seemed to deflate in relief and I felt bad that I had to give him the bad news now.

"With that being said, I have bad news about your father. Corey, he hasn't been seen since last week. No one seems to know where he's gone. Your mother is still at home, but she is keeping very quiet about his whereabouts. If he was just missing, surely she would have reported it by now. But she hasn't, which leads me to think that he is up to something." I watched as his eyes dimmed with worry and stress.

He was sitting tense in front of me so I reached for him and pulled him I to my body. He immediately cuddled into me and I held him as tightly as I could.

We sat like that for a while, but eventually I pulled back. We needed to finish up so I could go meet Greg.

"There are a few other things as well baby. I know you are going to be scared, but I will rather have you know what's going on, than have you put yourself in danger, because you didn't have all the information." He nodded in agreement and I gave him another quick kiss. His lips were seriously addictive.

"I was just told that we seem to have had some tampering with some of the cameras as well as evidence that someone has been trying to gain entry into the property. One of the guards was also found injured, this afternoon. So I'm going to be meeting with Greg soon to discuss what we can do to increase security around here to help protect you." He turned fearful eyes up to me, but just before I could comfort him, I was interrupted by a call.

When I looked at my phone screen, I saw it was from the security booth at the gate. I answered and they informed me of a delivery from an Italian restaurant, so I told them to let the driver in. I grabbed my wallet out my pocket and kissed Corey's nose, before I walked to the front door.

I opened and the driver was just getting out with the food. He came up the steps, I paid him and watched him leave, before I turned back to the kitchen. I was almost there when I heard Corey scream as well as a commotion coming from that direction.
