Chapter 288
After attending the International AI Conference, Maggie went to a hotel to attend her aunt’s nephew’s wedding banquet a couple of days later, after finishing work in the evening.
When she arrived at the hotel, she entered the elevator. Just as the elevator doors were about to close, she suddenly heard someone say, “Wait a moment.”
The person spoke while reaching out to stop the elevator doors from closing.
When she saw the person, Maggie’s eyes flickered.
Landon, upon seeing Maggie in the elevator, was also surprised. Although they had only met a few times, and the last time was two or three months ago, he still remembered her.
He nodded at her. Just then, Old Madam Brown appeared at the elevator door.
She was a little surprised to see her but quickly averted her gaze and entered the elevator as if she didn’t know her.
As Landon was about to press the button for his floor, he noticed that the 18th–floor button had already been pressed.
To him, Maggie was an acquaintance, so he smiled and turned to talk to her. But seeing her cold demeanor, he immediately realized she wasn’t interested in talking and chose not to speak further.
Landon affectionately put his arm around Old Madam Brown’s shoulders. She smiled and gently patted his hand.
Maggie quietly observed without saying a word.
Soon, the elevator arrived at the 18th floor.
The moment the doors opened, a noisy buzz filled the air.
When Maggie stepped out behind Old Madam Brown and Landon, she realized the entire 18th–floor lobby was packed with people. Logan and Janice were both dressed up and standing next to the reception desk, welcoming guests who had come for Old Madam Brown’s birthday celebration.
Indeed, today was Old Madam Brown’s 70th birthday.
Maggie quickly recalled this as she saw Old Madam Brown’s festive and elegant attire.
As soon as Old Madam Brown appeared, people immediately noticed her and came up to greet her. “Look, the birthday star has arrived!”
Some people also noticed Maggie behind her.

Chapter 288
Seeing her beauty and graceful bearing, they were immediately struck and said. “Old Madam, is this your granddaughter? No wonder she’s been able to charm the most outstanding young talents in the city. She’s really beautiful and has a certain grace just like you when you were young. You must be truly fortun
Maggie wanted to leave immediately, but the crowd was too thick, and she couldn’t get through the silly.
Logan and the others were not far off.
When they saw Maggie and Old Madam Brown arriving together, they were all surprised for a moment
For a brief moment, they all thought that Old Madam Brown had invited Maggie to attend her birthday celebration But how could that be?
They quickly realized that Maggie must have come to attend the wedding banquet next door. The hotel had dedicated elevators, and people unfamiliar with the layout sometimes made the wrong turn. It had happened a few times already.
Hearing the remark that Maggie resembled Old Madam Brown when she was young, Maggie’s face darkened, and she was about to speak up when Old Madam Brown calmly said, “You’ve mistaken her. She is not my granddaughter. I don’t know her.”
At the moment Old Madam Brown spoke, Franklin and Julia stepped out of the elevator.
Upon seeing Julia, someone immediately recognized her and said, “What’s wrong with your eyes? This is the real granddaughter of the Old Madam.”
Everyone’s attention quickly shifted to Julia and Franklin.
The two of them, looking so well–matched with their outstanding appearances, attracted compliments from the guests around them. “No wonder she’s a student of such a distinguished scholar; her demeanor is something ordinary people can’t compare to.”
“Indeed.”
Rex, Levi, and the others were also there.
They were unaware of the complicated relationships between the Brown and Green families, so when Old Madam Brown dismissed the mistaken identity, they didn’t react much.
Logan and Lauren didn’t speak either.
Watching it all, Sophia was quite pleased in her heart.
Jane, who had been observing, wanted to say something but lowered her head, not daring to speak with so many people around.

The readers' comments on the novel: Mr. CEO Your Wife Has Wanted a Divorce for a Long Time
Everytime I read new updates I am hoping to see Maggie completely moving on with her life not always checking where Franklin is up to with Julia. I think everyone reading this story by now understand that Franklin doesn't care about Julia. So what is the point of always pointing out how indifferent Franklin is to Maggie and how attentive he is towards Julia....
What does Helen mean Maggie is still married? Married to whom? Franklin has made it clear that he doesn't consider her anything and is flaunting his relationship with Julia for anyone who has eyes to witness it.So Maggie should wait for the divorce to be finalized to date. Isn't that double standards. And Franklin is dragging the divorce deliberately since divorced or not he does what he wants without any consequences. Really women are emotionally oppressed even authors only know that point of view 😕...
I feel sad for Maggie and all married women who have to endure emotional abuse with no end in sight. By the look of it,Franklin doesn't want to divorce Maggie for whatever reason. Either the reason is good or bad, Maggie shouldn't be humiliated like this just because she loves him. And the grandmother should be helping her get a divorce not emotionally blackmailing her, if she really cared about her. Franklin is using Maggie's love for the grandmother to abuse her. Is really loving people wrong? Author this one-sided hurt is not right. Let Maggie move on with dignity. It shouldn't end up with Franklin professing his love for her and her accepting it....
