“What about his office?” Pamella asked, frowning as she stood in the middle of the boutique, still holding the fabric swatch the stylist had handed her. 

Her secretary shifted slightly, holding a tablet in both hands. “Mr. Weiss hasn’t returned since the day of the accident” 

Pamella stared at her. “What do you mean, hasn’t returned?” 

“He hasn’t shown up to the office. No calls. No updates. His assistant said he flew out that same night but didn’t say where.” 

Pamella dropped the swatch on the table. “And no one thought to inform me?” 

“We tried to reach him,” the secretary said. “But his number’s been going straight to voicemail” 

Pamella walked across the room and snatched her phone off the bench. She pulled up Calen’s contact and pressed the call button. It rang once–then disconnected. She tried again. Same result. 

“This is unbelievable,” she muttered. “The fitting was scheduled a week ago. This was the reschedule. Where the hell is he?” 

The stylist stood quietly by the corner, pretending to adjust something on the mannequin. 

Pamella turned to her secretary again. “Where’s Cecil?” 

“She hasn’t returned any calls either.” 

Pamella blinked. “Are you telling me both of them just vanished?” That bitch Cecil had been acting all sweet. Yet now, the woman actually vanished with her son? 

“Ms. Rossi’s accident may 

have-” 

Pamella raised her hand. “Don’t say her name.” 

The secretary looked down at her tablet. 

Pamella stepped away, phone still in her grip. “Call legal. Have them freeze the PR drafts. If this wedding is falling apart, I’m not going to be the last to know.” 

“Yes, ma’am.” 

Pamella didn’t wait for another second. She tapped the screen, scrolled quickly through her contacts, and pressed the number labeled CEO Weiss – Office Line. 

It rang once before being picked up. 

“What is going on with your son?” Pamella said immediately. “Calen didn’t show up for the fitting. He’s been ignoring calls. If this deal doesn’t go through, you can forget about any investment from my father. Weiss Inc. will compensate me for the time, the planning, and the humiliation.” 

She didn’t pause. 

“I don’t care what kind of trouble he’s in. Handle it. I know he’s adopted, but the least you can do is control him.” 

She ended the call without giving Mr. Weiss the chance to respond. 

The screen went dark in her hand. She turned sharply back to her secretary. 

“Find Miss Rossi,” Pamella said. “If we find her, we’ll find Calen.”

Chapter 204 

The secretary gave a nod and started typing immediately. Pamella stood still, her nails tapping against the edge of the table, her eyes locked on the mannequin dressed in white. 

In the corner office overlooking downtown San Francisco, Atty. Alcaraz flipped through the latest printout of press inquiries. She barely looked up as her assistant entered. 

“Push the press briefing back again,” she said, circling a section of the media list with a red pen. “Say the family is requesting privacy. Use neutral language–nothing emotional. I want the coverage soft, not dramatic.” 

“Yes, ma’am,” her assistant replied, already typing into her tablet. 

“And delay the medical update by forty–eight hours. The longer they don’t know, the easier it is to control the message. Tell the PR team to emphasize ‘stable condition‘ and ‘internal review. Nothing else. No interviews.” 

Her assistant hesitated. “Ma’am, there’s something else. We’ve received over thirty calls from board members in the last two days.” 

Alcaraz looked up for the first time. 

“They’re asking for a statement,” the assistant continued. “Many of them are concerned. The shares dropped four points since the accident. They want to know if Miss Rossi will recover… or if they should prepare for succession.” 

Alcaraz set the pen down. “Who asked that directly?” 

“Gregory Vasili’s office called three times.” 

Of course, he did. 

“And one from Marla DuPont’s assistant.” 

Alcaraz opened her drawer, pulled out a sealed folder, and handed it over. 

“Give this to the internal team,” she said. “Draft a controlled update. We’ll say she’s undergoing treatment in a secured facility. No location. No prognosis. Just enough to calm the market.” 

Her assistant nodded. 

“And what about the family of the driver?” Alcaraz asked. 

“They’re threatening to go public. They’re demanding compensation.” 

“Offer them a nondisclosure and settlement,” Alcaraz said flatly. “Standard clause. Quiet money. Make it clear that if they talk, they’ll be violating privacy protections related to Miss Rossi’s condition. Get legal to sign off. Tell them to accept the money if they don’t want us to drag them into the court. That driver is already dying of cancer, why are they asking us to pay him when he was clearly the one at fault in this accident?” 

“Yes, ma’am.” 

Alcaraz leaned back in her chair. “Also, start compiling a list of temporary board appointees. If anyone tries to move against her, we’ll need leverage.” 

The assistant paused at the door. “Should I notify Victor Jin?” 

“No. Not yet. He’s still neutral. Let’s keep him that way.” 

The assistant stepped out. Alcaraz picked up her phone, dialed a private extension, and immediately started giving more 

instructions.
