"I remember." Patrick stood up from the sofa and faced her, "I told Mary before, if we are separated, we will meet at the airport. If there is any inconvenience, we will meet at the location we agreed upon abroad."
"Really?"
Alice heaved a sigh of relief, she never expected that they had such an agreement.
"Yes." Patrick nodded, "You should hurry up and go, I'm also going to leave, it's not suitable for me to stay here any longer."
"I'll send you away." Alice said.
"No need!" Patrick's tone suddenly became very agitated. Sensing that he had lost control of himself, Patrick's tone eased up. "I will get someone to pick me up. Alice, leave. You never loved me, so don't make me owe you even more."
Alice stood at the door and stared at his figure, her eyes was completely red, feeling upset in her heart.
"Leave."
Patrick said again.
Alice looked at his face, "Will someone really come to pick you up?"
"Of course, I can still find someone if I want to. After all, I've been here for so many years." Patrick said, and took out his phone from his pocket, "Do you need me to show you?"
Alice understood that she should not stay any longer.
"Then be careful, get a few more people to take care of you." Alice said as she turned to leave.
"Alice."
Patrick called out to her again.
Alice stood at the door and turned to look at him. Patrick was looking in her direction, but she knew that he could not see anything.
"Alice, I'm sorry." Patrick looked at her and spoke slowly, "I owe you that sentence for four years."
Alice stood there stiffly, her nose was so sore, and she couldn't say a single word.
"Actually, I always knew that I had done wrong, but I didn't dare to admit it. I thought that just because I didn't admit it, it couldn't be my fault." Patrick said while standing in front of the sofa.
Alice turned her face away, as tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Now that I think about it, if I didn't do those terrible things, we might still talk like friends." Patrick slowly said, "I made too many mistakes, and also missed too much."
"Stop."
Alice said softly, her voice was choked with emotions.
Hearing her sobbing voice, Patrick's eyelashes trembled. He looked in her direction and said word by word, "Alice, did I tell you before that you are an eternal wound of me? The wound is too big, to the point where I can't see anything else."
But he would rather have the wound continue to hurt until he died.
He would, because he was used to loving her.
"Enough."
Alice could no longer bear to listen. She turned and ran out, using her hands to cover her lips as she ran away from the river bank to the bridge.
She stood alone on the bridge, her hand was placed on her chest, where she felt pain.
Her lips trembled and tears fell.
She didn't want Mary and Patrick to be like this either, but what made them like this? They had been together under the same roof since they were young, but now they had become enemies and even strangers.
After a long while, Alice finally calmed down a little. She walked off the bridge step by step and walked on the road alone.
Mary, does this count as fulfilling your last wish?
She didn't know if Patrick could go abroad safely, she didn't know if the people his man could take good care of him.
Alice turned to look at the bridge, gritting her teeth as she looked back, she thought she should leave after meeting the person who would look after Patrick.
With that in mind, Alice decided to follow her heart. She walked all the way back, until she reached the bridge.
She saw Patrick standing among the flowers by the river bank, she did not know what he was doing.
Although there were railings on the river bank, it was still too dangerous for him.
Alice immediately rushed towards the bridge, using all her strength to run towards the river bank.
She slowed down and looked ahead.
Patrick stood in front of the railing by the river bank and pulled the flowers with both of his hands crazily.
As if he had lost his mind, he extracted stem and threw it on the ground and to the lake. He could not see, so he just threw them randomly.
With the thorns on the flower stalk, both of Patrick's hands were instantly covered in blood.
Alice didn't even have the courage to go forward and stop him.
Because she realized that she must have said the wrong thing, Patrick had already known that Mary was dead.
He was so smart.
As if he didn't feel pain, Patrick pulled the flower stem even more forcefully. Flowers that were dyed red with blood floated on the river.
He fumbled there.
Until he could no longer touch a straight stem or a flower.
Patrick leaned back in exhaustion and sat on the railing by the river bank. His face had a pained expression, his lips were trembling, and blood was flowing out as he held his head with both hands.
Hearing that, Patrick asked with a frown, "Why did you come back again? Hurry up and leave."
"Tell me, where is safest place to hide?"
Alice asked.
Now was not the time to talk nonsense.
"Hurry up and leave." Patrick pushed her away with all his might and retreated step by step. The despair on his face slowly disappeared.
That kind of calmness was not a good sign.
"Mary wants me to save you!" Alice looked at him and said, "If you feel sad for her, you should live!"
When she mentioned Mary, Patrick's body trembled.
"They're almost here. Do you want me to wait here with you?" Alice looked towards the direction of the bridge.
Patrick stood there.
After a few seconds, he said, "Come in. They must have found a house I bought across the river. I used it to bluff."
"Alright."
Alice replied as she held Patrick's hand and walked inside, holding his wrist tightly.
Entering the house, Alice immediately closed the door and looked through the window. Sure enough, all the cars were parked on the other side of the river, and a dozen armed men got out.
Then she heard a few shots.
She didn't know if it was safe here, but she hoped that those people would leave when they couldn't find anything in the house.
Alice closed the curtains and turned around. She saw Patrick sitting on the sofa, his short hair was dyed red by blood, his face was pale with despair. His hands were on his knees, covered with wounds and fresh blood.
Only then did she realise that there was a hole in the sofa.
Previously, Patrick had been intentionally trying to trick her, and thus he sensed that Mary had already passed away.
"Where is the medicine kit?"
Alice asked.
"I don't know." Patrick said, he sat on the sofa and said, "Mary took care of all these."
Alice looked at his bloody hands and asked: "What did I say wrong?"
"She won't leave me behind. I have experienced more dangerous things with her. She is so timid, but she never leave me behind." Patrick said, his voice was so hoarse.
