"Well I really love working with kids, of any age really, so I always knew I would end up somewhere in the teaching world." Anna's voice was so sweet, she sounded like the actress that would play an angel in a movie.
"You know Jace was almost the exact opposite!" My mom laughs. "He always told us he hated kids when he was in high school. Then he got older and ended up where he is. Let's just say he surprised us all with that one!" We all laugh a little bit as Anna looks at Jace. I think Jake was right about them not being mates, but they definitely still are in love.
The meal actually went by pretty fast. We made small talk, the questions coming from my family to Anna and Anna to Jake. Jake was old news to the rest of my family, but Anna was just as polite to him as we were to her.
"How long have you guys' been dating?" She asks us when we are eating the cake Jake and I picked up.
"About three weeks." I tell her totally guessing. I honestly lose track of how much time I've actually been with Jake. Sometimes it feels as if we met at birth and other times he seems like someone I must get to know more about because he seems so new.
"You guy's already look like you're in love." Anna says, not noting my dad clench his jaw.
Apparently Jake doesn't either, as he says, "Yes, we are. I love her more than anything and would do anything to protect her." He says, almost pointedly at Anna.
This time everyone seems to recognize the tension and the table goes quiet. Anna gives a small smile and simply replies, "I'm sure you would."
Thankfully after that, the conversation stays away from me and Jake.
"So what else is happening with Micah?" I asked Jake a while later when we were in my bedroom. As soon as we were done with dessert we booked it out of there for some privacy. My parent's didn't care as long as the door remained opened.
"Not much. We haven't come in contact with him ever since the first time he talked to you. We're hoping it was an empty threat and that he left, but we can never be too careful."
As he was talking I was drawing lazy circles on his chest. When he was done talking and silence had filled the air he watched my trace my finger across his body.
Eventually he took my hand, stopping its trail, and kissed the back of it. Then he dragged his lips up my wrist and across my arm until he was at my shoulder. He had pushed the sleeve of my shirt up and as it got scrunched up all the way he skipped over it and went to my neck.
He started sucking the skin across my collarbone and I bit my lip not to moan out. I knew my family couldn't hear us but I hadn't forgotten about the other werewolf in this house that could rat us out.
