Night Rider MC novel Chapter 16

I continue to watch over Star as often as I can. But it is not easy sneaking away from the clubhouse. I come every other day. And each time I bring one single white rose.

I know she thinks Ripper is giving her the rose. I don't care as long as she likes them. I never knew her. But I heard a lot of stories about Star.

I heard at one time she was strong, stubborn, and a fighter. Now she is scared, sad, and thinks she is not a good woman. She is wrong. I saw her covered in all that blood when she was carried into the club house.

I never felt such anger before. No one should ever hurt a woman like that. Then one day she shrank from her brother. Hid under the table, shacking, rocking, and crying.

I wanted to go to her. Tell her no one here would ever hurt her. But it was not my place. I will watch over her. I will keep sure she is safe. I will do for her what no one did for my sister.

And her fucking brothers. What good are they? Someone should beat the shit out of them. I will make sure they never hurt her. Not on my watch. If anyone found out what I was doing here, they would think I was in love with Star.

I am not. I just want to give her some happiness, if only for a few minutes. I saw her sleeping. She looked so peaceful. But, I also saw the dried tears on her face.

I walked to the patio and lay the rose on the table before walking down the road and getting on my bike. I arrived back to the clubhouse where I sat down on a chair and smoking a cigarrate.

I was deep in thoughts and did not see Ace sitting next to me.

"What the hell is wrong with you Smasher?"

"Nothing why?"

"The past few months you have disappeared, refused to talk to most of us, especially me."

"Ace, your sister is fucking broken and you don't even fucking care."

"I care. I tried to get her to talk to me. But she won't. So, I watch over her when Ripper is not there with her. So don't tell me I don't care about my sister."

"I want her to feel safe again. I would give my right arm if I could turn the clock back to the night we came to the BBQ> But I can't."

"So I do what I can and that is to watch over her during the day time. I know that this is my fault all this happened. I know how she is feeling. So sad, hurt, and full of anger. I think she would kill me if given half the chance."

"So, Smasher are you seeing a woman?"

"No, what makes you think I am?"

"Because you disappear for a few hours every night. And you take a white rose with you."

"It is none of your business even if I was."

"I go and visit a sick friend."

" even though she doesn't talk to me. I still go and see her."

"I try to let her know she has a friend who cares about her, and wants her to be happy again."

"She deserves to be happy and I am here for her if she wants to talk."

"I hate to see a woman living in fear."

"No woman deserves to live in fear."

"And no man should let another man harm a woman like Raven did to Star."

"I also want her to know that if her brothers are not there for her. I am."

"Smasher, stay away from my sister."

"No can do."

"None of you were there for her when she lived across the street. None of you stood up for her. Went to watch her graduate, gave her a graduation party, or even invited her to the club house. So Ace, you can go straight to hell."

"I will be the brother that you all should have been for her."
