"Donovan, you can send someone to retrieve the surveillance footage from that coffee shop," Frank said, then turned to Xenia. "The footage will prove what I'm saying, including your kneeling and begging for mercy."

Xenia kept her head down, her heart pounding with guilt as cold sweat beaded her forehead.

Donovan frowned. "Frank, I'll believe you this time, but if the footage doesn't prove your claim, don't blame me for doubting you."

"Fine." Frank asked coldly, "Xenia, are you still refusing to tell the truth?"

"Frank, I've been telling the truth," Xenia replied, avoiding his gaze. Admitting anything was out of the question.

If the footage really were retrieved, she'd need an excuse. Having already lost Frank's trust, she couldn't afford to lose Donovan's as well.

Maybe she should contact that person once more.

Xenia picked up the fruit tray. "Donovan, I'll go wash some more fruit."

"Stop right there!" Frank snapped. "Until the coffee shop footage is retrieved, you're not leaving this room. I don't want you contacting the Merlock family to tamper with it!"

Frank knew Xenia didn't have the means herself, but the Merlocks did.

Xenia had no choice but to stay put, her anxiety building with each passing second.

Soon, Donovan's phone rang. It was his secretary.

"Have you retrieved the surveillance footage?

"What? The coffee shop caught fire last night, and all the surveillance footage was destroyed?"

Donovan couldn't help but feel something was off.

Xenia finally breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing the news.

The shop was burned? Good. She had narrowly escaped this disaster!

Had that man acted, or was it the Merlock family? Either way, she was safe now.

Noticing Frank's piercing gaze, Xenia flinched. "Frank, you don't think it was me, do you? You were sick last night, and I stayed at the hospital taking care of you. Besides, I wouldn't dare commit arson!"

"You couldn't do it, but the Merlocks could!" Frank snapped. "You definitely contacted someone from the Merlock family. Otherwise, how would they know about the surveillance footage so early?"
