Noelle was still shaken by the memories of that photo. Xenia's father, Sean, was still alive! That car accident all those years ago wasn't as it seemed.

Donovan sounded skeptical. "What do you mean by that, Noelle? Of course, Xenia's father is dead.

"He saved you, then went back to save Mom and Dad. But then the car exploded, and he died along with them."

Noelle pressed. "If the explosion destroyed everything, then surely you couldn't have seen his face. Are you absolutely sure the person who died was Xenia's father?"

"Of course! How could that be wrong? I saw him driving the car myself!" Donovan exclaimed.

Noelle frowned. So, there was no mistake? But the man in the photo she saw was definitely Sean. So where was the problem?

She spoke coldly. "What if Xenia's father never died?"

"That's impossible! Noelle, are you just making excuses so you don't have to feel indebted to Xenia? Are you saying her father is still alive?" Donovan was furious.

Noelle found it laughable. "You never doubted it? Not even once?"

Donovan scoffed. "Do you think I didn't investigate the accident? All I found was that it was related to the Merlock family.

"There were no other leads. If you're so capable, why don't you investigate it yourself?"

Noelle took a deep breath. "Did no one ever question our driver?"

Had Donovan never suspected anything or noticed anything unusual? Donovan groaned. "Xenia's father is dead. Why are you obsessing over a dead man?"
