Magnus outright denied the rumors in his interview. "Cedric and Ms. Merlock never had any kind of relationship, let alone an engagement. That was all fabricated by the media. Cedric is already in a stable relationship with someone he likes."
The statement immediately went viral. Noelle glanced at the news—so it was true that Cedric had nothing to do with Laura.
Samantha had been running her mouth for weeks, bragging that Laura was about to get engaged to the Greene family's golden boy. Now, she would have to find another way to show off.
After lingering in the classroom for a while, Noelle and Grace finally left when most of the students had cleared out. As they walked outside, they spotted Samantha on a phone call, her face twisted in frustration.
"Tell those reporters to shut the hell up! Laura and the Greene family are already discussing their engagement—Magnus is just talking nonsense!"
She looked livid. After all, Magnus's statement had made her a laughingstock among her friends.
When Noelle walked past, Samantha quickly lowered her phone and forced a smirk. "Noelle, I bet you're laughing at me right now. But let me tell you—Magnus is full of shit. The Greene family will be announcing Laura's engagement soon."
Noelle's tone was indifferent. "Then congratulations in advance."
Samantha scoffed. "At least you know your place. Laura is Yasnia's top socialite—she grew up alongside Cedric. They were practically made for each other."
Samantha's words dripped with arrogance, as if she were trying to convince herself more than anyone else. Noelle did not bother responding and simply walked away.
Grace leaned in and whispered, "I heard Samantha is off the hook. The bullying case was dropped."
"How? Wasn't there solid evidence?"
"There was, but rumor has it the Greene family stepped in. In the end, another student took the fall for her. Samantha even bragged about it in class."
Noelle recalled the bullying videos she had seen on Samantha's phone. Those girls had been tormented so brutally, and yet the real mastermind got away scot-free.
Her mind drifted back to what Donovan had told her—that the car that ran the red light years ago belonged to the Merlocks, and someone inside had fled the scene.
That meant the driver had likely been a scapegoat, and the real culprit had never been caught.
And now, the Liddells' driver was also suspicious. Everything was tangled together, and Noelle's mind buzzed with questions.
