Casey said, "Please don't leave! I can explain! He's the one who seduced me—I didn't want it!"

She looked at me tearfully as she pleaded, "I really didn't do it on purpose, Jace. I won't hold what happened today against you. Let's register our marriage and start a good life together, okay?"

In the past, I'd throw all my principles out the window if I saw her crying. But my heart hardened after she and Andrew ruined my past life. I may show mercy to others, but not to her.

I rejected her without hesitation. "No. We're done for good."

Casey trembled under my icy gaze. "I promise I won't talk to him ever again. I'll only be with you, so please!"

Her mind went blank from all the chaos that had happened today. All she could think was that if she didn't fix things with me and this got out, her life would be ruined for good.

"Are you still asking to register our marriage? How shameless are you?" I couldn't help but scoff at Casey's shamelessness.

She slept with another man on our wedding day, yet she was still asking me to register our marriage. Did she take me as a fool?

"Fuck off!" I shoved Casey away and turned to leave. It would only irritate my eyes if I continued to stay here.

I immediately thought of Kourtney once I returned to the hospital.

I stopped dropping by after Casey went and caused a scene in Kourtney's ward. Kourtney had suffered unexpectedly because of me, so I should go and apologize to her.

With that thought on my mind, I pulled out her file from the system. Her emotional state had been unstable recently, and her recovery hadn't been ideal. As her attending physician, it was only right for me to visit her.

After writing down a new prescription, I walked over to Kourtney's ward. She had recovered quite a bit after a week—at least she was able to speak without issues now.
