"Ellie has a lot of hurt inside her as a result of her parent's death. Since that happened she's been doing whatever she can to not become her mother and if you force her to stay she's gonna resent you."
"You're right."
There was a knock at my door. "Come in."
In walked Heather, her face was red and puffy that gave away the fact that she had been crying. "Can we talk?" She asked in a low voice.
"Ryan, you still there?" Noah asked.
"I gotta go." I hung up the phone and stood up to greet her, even though Alex wasn't speaking to her, I still wanted to show her the utmost respect because she was Alex's mother and because she was a woman that I respected greatly. "Yes, of course. Have a seat."
She sat down and wiped her eyes with the tissue on my desk. "Alex probably told you what happen but it's not all true."
I figured all of what Alex was saying wasn't true, there was no way a woman like Heather would abandon her child. "Okay." I nodded and waited for her to continue.
"When I ended my marriage with Mel, he was furious, and I completely understand why. It was definitely out of the blue, I myself didn't expect to me mated to a werewolf, but I couldn't help the feelings that I was having."
"I understand." She stood up and begin to pace the room.
"I wanted to have jointed custody of Alex, but he and his lawyers dug up something about me being an unfit mother which was completely untrue." She shook her head violently. "It got to the point where they were planning on putting Alex on the stand and that something I couldn't live with so I agree to give him full custody, if he made sure that I was able to see her every week and still be involved in her life." I didn't know what to say so I didn't say anything, I sat back as she continued to pace the room while telling me her dark past. "Never did I think that he would be so cruel and tell her all these bad things about me that I didn't love her or want her, so every time that I tried to get her she would cry and scream the whole entire time. He documents everything and took it to court and got my visitation revoked."
"I sorry to hear about this." As soon as I spoke up she begins to sob. "I wish I could do something about all of this."
She wiped her tears away. "You can convince her to talk to me."
"Alex is stubborn, she even threatens to leave me if I bring it up."
Susan was Melissa older cousin who had recently moved here to go to university at the local college. She was a bit clumsy but she was such a sweetheart. Plus I knew if I didn't hire her Melissa would be pissed at me and think that I was playing favoritisms, and that was a problem that I just didn't feel like dealing with.
"Nice to meet all of you." She smiled brightly.
"You too." The others said in unison.
"Last but not least we have our two new waiters Evan and Jacob."
Even though Evan and Jacob were twins they were complete opposites. Evan was taller than Jacob and slim. He was also incredibly shy. According to Lily, he was sort of the Omega in the pack, but without the titles since The Red Bloods Pack didn't believe in the omega title.
On the other hand, Jacob had a muscular physique and a cocky bastard if I ever met one. Since the moment he walked in he would shamelessly flirt with me. Ryan wasn't too happy to hear about this when Lily told him. He ended up going to Evan's and Jacob house and having a conversation with him. Whatever he said or did, it definitely stopped the flirting and had even managed to stop all eye contact between Jacob and me.
"We're all so happy for you to join our team, and while I would love to sit here and get to know each other, we need to get to work," I announced.
